It has taken me months of haunting the EE to get all Colt parts but I finally finished my carbine. Barrel off a 6721, Colt A2 upper receiver. Colt LE Carbine lower. All the various parts from different folks. Thanks to all I bought from here for the smooth transactions. The added bonus of building it all myself, all good. Total cost=$753.85
The point of my exercise was to build a carbine for less than $800 from parts and assemble each part to learn how the rifle functions. Spent many days at the range firing friends and coworkers weapons so I tried everything from HBAR's to M4 profile to pencil barreled carbines. 10 inch to 16 inch barrels. Fat hand guards, rails, skinnies, A1's, A2's flattops with optics and BUIS. I have Colt A2 rifle and like the quality so I decided to attempt to build a Coltenstein for my $800 budget. Some of the parts were barely used, most were take offs from folks changing out parts off brand new rifles. I didn't jump at the first part I saw, but waited until they fit in my budget. I waited 5 months for a lower at the right price. My only concession to aftermarket parts are a Magpul trigger guard(came on the lower, and I removed a Bill Springfield trigger group and replaced it with a Colt group) and a BCM charging handle. I was lucky getting the upper(Colt Mueller Brass) that had a 4 stamped on it and M4 cuts from the factory so the 6721 barrel works great. I chose the HBAR profile for that smidge of better accuracy. I had the upper on a Double Star lower and fired a couple thousand trouble free rounds of LC M855 the last 5 months until the Colt lower appeared last week. So now I need to figure out what to build with the Double Star lower... which by the way, is not quite in spec. It has issues with certain mags dropping free but other than that, was fine. |

A local trophy shop did it in 2008 for $35. Glad most lowers are aluminum otherwise it would've rusted by now

Thanks. Built it around the barrel w/ the YHM in mind. Loud as hell w/o the can, and superb w/ it on. I love it. Have Chrome N/M M16 carrier group. T3 buffer, Gasbusting C/H, along w/ the switchblock and she really purrs....bullets....

I've been a lurker on here for a while but just joined. Not my first build but my first "dumb gun". Black Rain billet (nickel Boron plated) upper and lower. BlackRain 16" fluted barrel BlackRain nickel charging handle with tac latch BlackRain stainless flash hider. (nasty looking, in a good way and uber sharp!!) Custom BCG RR 2 stage trigger KNS non rotating pins magpul grip, stock and foregrip YHM specter length quad rail Troy QD sling adapter on the front. VTAC sling. EO517, and EO 3x FTS magnifier. And my other two favs... Just finished my first build. Took over a year to collect all of the pieces. Sure didn't help when Sabre went and got raided 2 days after I ordered the barrel.

Not new to AR's but this was my first build:
Rainier Arms Forged Upper & Lower Rainier Arms Select 14.5" Stainless Barrel 1x8 twist Rainier Arms XTC Compensator permanently attached Rainier Arms RA15-X11 Free Float Rail Rainier Arms Stainless Gas Block Young Manufacturing Chrome BCG BCM Charging Handle Magpul MOE stock w/PSA Stock Kit PSA LPK Magpul AFG2 foregrip Magpul front sight and GI rear sight Eotech 551 Build was pretty easy considering it was my first. I built myself a small make shift table. My garage and budget had no room for a real work bench so with a Craftsman vise and $17 in wood and bolts from Lowe's I built myself a pretty solid work area. I used brass and steel punches and got myself a ProMag vise block. Franklin Armory lower, PSA 16' Carbine upper and lower parts kit, MOE buttstock and grip, MBUS rear, Magpul 10/20 Pmags, YHM Phantom brake, Radlock bullet button since I'm in Cali, Fab Defense MWG, CAA M4S1 handguard and Lucid HD7 Red dot w/ 2x magnifier.
