I helped build this upper back in early 2015 and I'm now the proud owner of it again, but with it's original lower too :)

Lower-
- Spikes Tactical Stripped Lower Receiver

- Spikes Tactical Buffer Tube Assembly
- B5 Systems Sopmod (replaced with Magpul CTR)

Upper
- BCM Upper Receiver Group
- BCM 16" BFH Barrel
- BCM 13" KRM
- BCM Gunfighter Mod 0 Compensator
- BCM Gunfighter Foregrip

I have been looking through these builds for well over 4 years and finally have built one of my own to add. It's a very simple budget build for the girlfriend but I built it so some pride in that.

And also my dpms oracle with a strike industries megafins 15 in keymod and rock river national match. And my Anderson pistol build with a Kak shockwave.

hi all  this is my 2nd build

top rifle
anderson upper/lower rec.
green mountain 18" .223 wylde barrel
dpms LPK
diamond head free float HG
magpul stock
gereric sights
UTG buffertube springs buffer etc...
</a>" />

bottom rifle is an older build
bushmaster upper/lower
DPMS lpk
wilson combat 20" target barrel
custom freefloat hg
magpul stock / grip
generic buffertube spring/buffer

</a>" />

needs optics for both rifles. Still working on that not sure what too use, guns are mostly for target use but will be used for whatever they are needed for. So i welcome suggestions for optics.
i have 2 YHM phantom suppressors in the works for these rifles, it will be awhile before i can pick them up. and ill need to replace the WC barrel to use a can
i will eventually upgrade trggers probably go with timmney dropin triggers.
and comments advice on how too upgrade these 2 ???.  other than adjustable gasblocks?  either anderson or jp blocks

bottom one shoots great, nickle size groups @100 yds with most ammo no problems in function,  i just finished top one so havent had it too the range for break in .  will do that soon.

I built think mostly prior to '07, but in '08 changed the barrel and added the ACOG.  Silencer came in 2010, and the IR capable surefire later.  Its been my do-everything rifle.

First you'll have to find a NSR-9, 11, or 13.5" that you're willing to cut to allow a carbine FSB to work in.

The way Noveske milled out that rail, it works almost perfectly but you'll need to do a couple things to prepare your gun for this transition.

First, you have to tap each FSB hole with a 6-32 so that you can install setscrews to lock it in in place.

Do so slowly as you may break off the tap in the taper pin hole.

Ask me how I know.

See where to make your cuts in the NSR and once you've successfully tapped each taper pin hole, install your NSR barrel nut on the rifle.

You'll have to remove the bayo-lug and sling swivel from the FSB also, as there is no clearance for them inside a NSR.

Once you've gotten the NSR cut to allow clearance for the FSB, you need to set it through the top, and put your gas tube in the FSB before installing the rail and FSB onto your gun.

The next step is a bit easier, but still requires a steady hand or drill press.  You have to drill a couple holes in the side of the NSR to allow your setscrews to install through.  They can be covered up by using Noveske NSR keymod panels or something similar to the MI ones.  Skinny panels like BCM or KAC won't fully cover the holes you made.

A more detailed write-up is available here.

Since this gun has a pinned and welded muzzle device, it's going to remain this way.

Clearly I chose to take that entire upper down and put a different barrel to it because the 11.5" barrel I used in that configuration is going to become a KAC SR-15 N4 with a milled URX2 rail that will eventually look like a SR-16 CQB clone.

Trying to decide whether to mill this URX2 to mimic the URX3 10.75" that is on a SR-16 E3 CQB upper, and make the barrel 11.5"

or

make a pinned and welded 14.5" gun.

Current barrel is 16"

Finished my ADM UIC lower today with a KAC 2 stage trigger (non adjustable), KAC ambidextrous sling mount end plate, and SR-15 E3 upper with Knight's URX3 Rifle Length handguard.

Still trying to think of which optic to run.

Too late

I have a few KAC legacy guns with 16" barrels and URX2 handguards.  Those are remaining as they are, but this one is already being prepped for cerakote soon.

DelTon dissy rifle gassed barrel

LMT fixed irons
Spikes T2 buffer & generic carbine spring.
Geissele SSA-E trigger

the barrel appears to be under 16", is it? You said your rail is 12", and the kx3 is barely poking out the end of that thing.

Yes it is under 16" it is a 10.5" Noveske barrel with a Noveske KX3 on the end of it under a Seekins 12" MCSR rail.

Paper took from May 11th until Sept 15th 2015 to get the stamp back.

I drew it on with a sharpie and took a very fine diamond bit on a Dremel and went over it, I tried the Emperial/Sith logo on the other side but I can't do a straight line or circle I smoothed it back out as best I could.

Just an idea, but you could get that laser engraved somewhere using vector graphics and it would be literally perfect. Then a professional could make the other side have deep, sharp cuts using precision engraving tools.

Doctor7474-
What do you think of the Cryptic Coatings BCG?

Is it worth the money spent to get something like it or was it the only kind of BCG that closely matched up with the cerakote finish on your rifle?

I guess what I'm asking is would you do it again if you were only going with a black rifle or something?

I've not shot it yet so I don't know, the actual BCG is Toolcraft who is a top mfg of BCG's and then its coated. I basically sat down and thought about what was the best and then out of that pool of parts what looked best.

I shot a few hundred rounds this weekend about 400 or so. No issues with the BCG, cleaned up with nothing but a rag and a couple Q tips no solvent needed.

[Last Edit: catacombs2001] [#50]
My first build, which has been through many changes since first being built in 2013.
Current specs:
Upper:
BCM stripped upper
Bison Armory 16" stainless recon profile, .223 wylde 1/7" mid-length
Silencerco Specwar brake
Magpul Mbus sights
Vortex Crossfire 2-7 in Burris PEPR. I love this scope. Went in looking to spend $400 and this was the one I liked the most. 2-7s are very underrated.
Ice Arms phosphate BCG, BCM SOPMOD extractor spring kit
MI Gen2SS 13" foreend
Lower:
Anderson stripped lower
Geissele G2S
Magpul grip, B5 Sopmod Enhanced stock
H2 buffer and Sprinco blue spring

Just completed my second build. Primarily spare parts. Still need to chop/thread/pin/weld barrel.
Colt upper, ? CAR15 handguards from parts bin, ? BCG with SOPMOD extractor spring kit, Vortex Strikefire, Magpul MOE stock, Anderson lower, Sprinco blue spring and H3 buffer. It will get an ALG or CMC to replace this trigger once my Tavor gets a new trigger.
