After several months contemplation and much deliberation over parts choice, I finally finished my "fighting rifle" (at least the actual rifle portion; I still need to get some optics and a good light, but that will have to wait until my pocket book recovers).

If the ATF really wanted to get nasty they could nail half of us for constructive intent just for having a lathe and a rifle. Fortunately there's that "jury of my peers" thing that would shut it down. I have enough faith in humanity that obvious bullshit like that wouldn't fly. |

It's constructive possession but as mentioned that doesn't apply to not having to have all of your lowers registered. |

ok...here it is...my first build and first AR15. Actually, I can't take much credit since I didn't do much more than watch and learn on this one. Although I did manage to break the bolt catch. It was slightly bent out of the box and I attempted to straighten it in a vice, I just about had it straight then *snap!* It was facinating to watch this go together. Now I understand why so many guys get hooked on building ARF's! Anyway, it's a CMMG M-4 kit on a Double Star lower. Pretty plain-Jane for now, just anxious to get some rounds through it - then I'll start looking at mods and accessories. Once again, thanks to BLUND for all the help!!

Here's mine I just finished the other day. Built the lower, a RRA with NM 2 stage trigger. The upper is a Stage 2H. Put a Nikon Monarch VSD scope on it. Backed up with a Matech rear sight that all line up PERFECTLY. I built the sling from the plans that i got on this forum. traded out the handguard and put the UTG quadrail. very tight and secure, why pay more? The folding verticle grip is also a UTG which works great in this configuration. Mounted with a Daniel Defense offset mount is a pentagon X3 light and a cheapee greenlaser on the other side. Atleast it dials in and stays there.

Very nice build, trying to think of a good reason to relocate to Alaska I went there a few years back for vacation and fell in love with the place. I did notice that there is a HELL OF A LOT of breath taking views and lots of unoccupied wilderness. Many places are too wild for my liking but if your a true outdoorsman then there is no better place in my opinion. Well maybe Montana |

Hey, joined the AR community recently. Purchased a DPMS about a little over a month ago and never looked back!
Friend who got me into the AR purchased me an Eotech 512 and it is by far the coolest thing I have seen. Headed to the range tomorrow to begin playing with it. As for my "build," I was messing around with Photoshop and the idea came across to illustrate my setup, PIXEL by PIXEL. Took about 5 hours or so, but turned out pretty well. Looks just like my setup, carbine w/ Eotech. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee187/Contagion2012/DPMSwWASPEotech512.gif I will try to work on a signature style avatar with these also. BTW, I might be interested in illustrating some setups, or potential builds for a couple of other folks if interested. First come first served though, as they take a while. Who knows, this might turn out to be something to look into as future income to put towards my rifle! |
