I have created a series improved 25M zero targets (based of the standard US Military 25M zero target) that will allow the shooter to zero for 50/200M, 100M, and 300M using a 25yd/M range. The different targets are calibrated for both 20" full length service rifles and also 14.5" / 16" carbines with the shorter sight radius. The bold centering lines should assist in acquiring the good sight picture required for zeroing. These are also in different colors in addition to the traditional black for your individual preference.

Trajectories used were an average of M193 and M855 ballistic data. This should get most shooters in the right area. As you know, this can change with different loads.

All targets are designed for standard 8.5x11 paper. Make sure your page scaling is set to 'NONE' in your print settings for proper scaling.

Grid dimensions for targets are:
Rifle Targets: .96cm
Carbine Targets: 1.3cm
Optics Targets: 1/2" (numbered grids)

Be safe and good shooting!

Thanks.

Make us one for the AK.

When I print them as "Fit to Printable Area", the grid is 1cm squares.
Is that correct?

the grid squares are 0.96 cm, so you should be right about there

When I print it as "None" they are about that dimension(< 1cm square).
If that's correct then I'll print them that way.

I just figured it was a round dimension.

Alright, I've simplified things and created targets for 50/200M, 100M, and 300M zeroes for both rifles and carbines.

I've added targets that should be useful for a variety of optic equiped rifles with grid references calibrated for 1/2 MOA click adjustments.

These are great. You got some chops.

Could you do some targets with multiple silhouettes reduced for 25 meters?
The ones I've seen are usually poster sized but you could certainly fit a number of the 100M-300M targets onto one letter size page.

Would you able to make 50yard zero target (at 25meter or yard) for BUIS sights, if possible?

The first ones (Iron Sights) should work with your BUIS.

Thanks for the great targets.
Maybe I am being a bit dense here but I am having difficulty understanding what part of the silhouette is to be used as center mass on the 50/200 meter carbine optics target?

Center mass on the silhouette is shown with the bold gray lines. You'll aim center mass of the silhouette target and make your sight adjustments so your rounds impact within the dashed circle.

Thanks for the quick reply.
That works as POI should be 1.2" below POA for 50M zero at 25M for a M4 with absolute co-witness red dot.

Hey I'm going out hunting for first time since got wounded in 06 I got SSA 70 gr tsx through a 16 in 1/7 4150 barrel with a battlecomp on the end. Using the improved optics zero targets he made how close will I be ? I'll try to get to the sheriff dept range but this is my plan B. Any advice please...

Wouldn't it make sense to scale the targets for yards, not meters? I've never been to a range in this country that uses the metric system.

Any idea how close to correct these would be for a 16-18" .308 [147-150gr at ~2600fps]?

They work just as good at 25 yards. The difference between the two units is not noticeable at the ranges concerned. The metric units where used mainly due to the fact that AR15 sights are calibrated in meters.

The 50M and 100M zero targets should work just fine for a a 70 grain Barnes TSX fired at 2750 fps out of your 16" barrel. The POI for both is only + .1" difference at 25M compared to the M193/M855 average I used.

Just remember that with your load, the 50/200M zero will actually be a 50/160M zero as you'll be hitting about 2.6" below POA at 200.

Here's the table for your load with a 50M zero.

Good luck on the hunt! Glad you're getting back to it.

Go with the rifle targets for your desired zero. The click adjustments will not be exact, but they will be closer than using the carbine targets. This is what I used for my 16" rifle with a 12" rail running MBUS front and rear and it worked well.

If sighting in a rifle or carbine with optics that have calibrated aiming points––like the Nikon 223 BDC or the Burris TAC30/MTAC––would you sight in using the primary aiming point (100meter) or would you use the calibrated secondary aiming points, i.e., the 200 yard or 300 yard dots ?

If what I read on the target for the 25/300 meter target is correct, you would zero at 25 using the 100 meter (primary) aiming point, them click down 2 MOA––would thus be the same as zeroing at 25 meters with the 300 meter aiming point ?  There's a roughly 2moa difference between the two aiming points.

I used these targets to zero my AR15's.  One with an EOtech EXPS3-4 and the other with a Leupold scope.  Need to get out to an actual 100yd area where I can confirm zero at 25M.  I'm happy with these groups.

Damn my range is only 25 yards which is not 25 meters, but does it really matter op?

Edit i believe i can still use your target but will be zeroed for 50yards/220 yards.

thanks op

close enough for Gov. work.

You'll be fine using a 25 yard range.

total newbie here, but I am very appreciative of the work that went into these charts.Thank you very much!

if I understand things correctly, using the 3 targets for the 14.5 or 16" carbines, they all do the same thing: provide the ability to zero in at a particular distance by using a 25 m/y range. The difference is in how you set the rear elevation while doing the zero. I guess why one would choose one over the other would be at which distance you want to be closer to zeroed at, right?

My understanding from reading RIBZ threads on this site as well as on AR15 Armory was

25m: 6/3
50y: 6/3 -4 (for the 20" A4 rifle; the M4 carbine will zero at 41 meters/45 yards)
100y: 6/3 -6
150y: 6/3 -6
200m: 6/3 -4
300m: 6/3
400m: 4
500m: 5
600m: 6/3 (after one full rotation upward)

so I am confused as to why someone would perform the mod to the rear sight and then want to choose the 25/300 target at 6/3, versus clicking down to 6/3 -6 and using the 100m target, versus clicking to 6/3 -4 and using the 50 m target.

Can someone explain?
