Been a while since I've been back, but I thought I'd update.  I dropped yet another FCG into the lower, and this one seems to work.  Not exactly sure what it was, thinking it's a Giessele, but not certain.  The carbine shot a TON better!!  It doesn't seem to like hollow points, but shot our FMJs and ARXs quite well.  We ran out of ammo, so had to put it back into the bag for that trip.  We'll now try more/different ammo to see what it likes.  I'm happy to have a .45 AR now working!!

Now that I can at least start tuning it, instead of just making it work, I'm trying to find a muzzle brake.  I'm not having much luck.  The barrel supposedly has a 5/8"X24 thread, which I can only find in .308/6.5.  Anyone know of any decent muzzle brakes that'll fit that barrel and work with .45?  Thanks.

Redid the upper completely after getting a good trade in the EE. Odd color but it works, and now has a carry handle on it with a fixes front sight coming in the mail. Bored out a Strike Cookie Cutter Comp to go on it.

Dang, just saw that TANGOCHASER had passed.

Sorry to hear that, he was the "go to" person for 45acp conversion info for many years starting at least 15 years ago.

The 45acp conversion/AR45 situation would not be were it is today (or at least it would have take a lot longer to get to this point) if it was not for him.

I started following his posts back around 2004 and it was an interesting time following all the developments.

I'm sure I read every one of his posts back then and some several times when I was on a quest for a GG mag compatible lower.

CavArms, Ameetec , Khalan Weaponry , CNC Machine and Thompson Machine .

Link to the original 45 conversion guide thread

I still have my AR45 and it is still one of my all time favorite firearms.

I would like to convert mine once again to a DI, might get around to that one of these days.

Current configuration, nothing fancy but shoots great.

Still have this piece of junk

That is sad to hear.  I also spent a lot of time following his posts back in the beginning.

It’s been a long time, I would have to do some research to refresh my memory. Basically it was FUBARed as far as I can remember.

Damn...

That's tough.  I followed his posts, bought Grease Gun base plates from him, and put my CNC AR45 together based on this thread and others.

Fair winds TC.

Luckily i was able to get mine up and running.
The first batch were good to go, so promising.
Mine was second batch.

Most difficult fix was the saety selector hole.
I press fit in a brass tubing sleeve to recreate the stepped hole.

On my Khalan it was just the trigger and hammer pin holes.  I had them reamed to .169” and added a JP trigger and hammer - IIRC they were cheaper than the large hole Colt FCG parts available at the time.

Before I fixed it it was pretty much a machine gun.

I just got a good deal on a .45acp AR. It has a Runner Runner Glock lower. I know they are out of business, but I was hoping someone could tell me who the actual manufacturer was. New Frontier, etc... I did a mag dump to check function and it had one that either short stroked or didn't fully chamber.

I believe RR had a variance on New Frontier.  Sorry to see them go - saw em at the shows.

That's what I was thinking based on mag release. I was hoping to get one of their billet Texas lowers, but they closed. Seemed like a good company from my friend's experiences.

I'll give you a call one of these days and get some info on that. Do these typically have issues feeding hollow points?

On mine the I had M60Joe ream/align the trigger and hammer pins to 0.169 too. My lower also has jacked up detent pin holes that require custom detents. Well, except for the front takedown pin which doesn’t even have a detent hole.

Finally got this thing where I want it! Tested it for the first time with 40 rounds of mixed BS factory ammo at -25 last week. Pleasant to shoot and the irons were damn near dead on at 15 yards.

Thank you Rudy

Shout out to Rudy.

I bought this MI suppressor ready rail, only thinking about the inner diameter.  I was not expecting the barrel nut to be so huge that it covered the AR45's gas port.

Rudy worked some kind of magic on it and made it fit.

So baller.

FM45 8.5" upper with side charging on rail with S&W 45 mags (10 & 14 round) in standard lower.  Runs great and locks back.

I have an Olympic Arms .45 upper and as everyone knows uses either converted uzi mags or Olympic Arms magazines.  Problem now is Olympic Arms is out of business completely as of 12/24 (from what I understand) their website is officially down.  Does anyone have any solutions for magazines other than Uzi mags?  I actually ordered mags for OLY on 12/21 but they never shipped.  Any suggestions for a solution would be great.

That upper is not limited to OLY mags or modified Uzi mags - standard AR lowers are.

You have lots of options.  This is by no means a comprehensive list but you could get an older CAV Arms polymer lower. Bazooka Brothers, or a CNCGuns AR45 lower; all will run an OLY upper with un-modified Grease Gun magazines.  Or, if you want to stick with a standard lower, you can buy some of these from Macon Armory.  Maybe.  I honestly don't know if they work with the OLY uppers.  But, I'd bet a dollar that they do.  The feed cones on those OLY uppers are huge and very forgiving.  Shoot Rudy an IM - he's in this thread.

I ran grease gun mags with an Oly and Dalphon upper.  Modified ones in the early days and then regular grease gun mags in a Cav Arms MKII lower.

Old Oly Arms 45ACP upper on JoeBob large Glock mag lower.  Just remove Colt style ejector from JB lowe.... slap on Oly Upper.  There is a wear in period for some mags, like how the Endomag says with their kit.

Malcom Armory said they have a mag catch that can adjust the hight of the mag if need be.  So far, OEM Glock mags lock.  The hi cap Korean have issues....

I also run a 10mm Oly with that. Lower.
