If Pmags actually work Ron will keep busy.  I do hope the modified grease gun mags run clean for higher capacity.  I'm awaiting my 7.5" with mid-length rail.  I only got 14 rounds in... guess it is 14+1 since another member posted a video earlier indicating 15 in a Pmag.

Ummmm.....yeah.....So, anything special holding those 45's stacked in a row?  Not misfeeding?  Is there a trick to that?

That is awesome.

Wow, I tried to mod a 20 round Pmag. It would only do 6 or 7 rounds before the
lips would spread. Never considered using a 30 round... Duh on me. Looks like
it works great. Maybe the feed lip area of the 30 rounder is tougher...??????

Ron's Modified Grease Gun Mags are the ultimate for high capacity.. Flawless.

I've still got Ron's insert and 4 modified PPS-43 Mags. 8-9 rounds is about it for them.

I've gotta look into the 30 round Pmag for sure.....

Just got it... will get better photos than this phone pic.  Waiting on a fixed adapter for my 45 pistol can... at the moment it is an extra 1/2 to 3/4 an inch longer than it needs to be while I use a pistol threads to 5/8x24 adapter.  Plan to try both the grease gun mag and pmags this weekend.

RMW 7.5" 45 DI in YHM mid length smooth rail with a Nexus III 45acp pistol suppressor.

any updates?  I am hoping you have some success, this would seriously open up some possibilities with a standard lower!

I just don't see how the rounds can possibly be secure in that oversized mag body.  Maybe this is something that will marginally work for static plinking...

I picked up one of Ron's uppers off the EE a few weeks back.  It showed up very, very  dirty from the seller so I punched the bore and went to it to see how well it ran.  I got through 3 mags before I had an issue.  After it started acting up I punched the bore again, wiped it down with a rag and oiled the internals.  No more problems for 4 mags after that.  I ran Federal and Fiocchi 230gr FMJ.

I cleaned it thoroughly and took it back out with the same ammo.  The upper ran flawlessly and put 5 rounds touching at 25 yards.  100 rounds was just one big hole in the chest and a smaller hole in the head.  I also shot at 50 yards, but didn't test accuracy.   I'm very happy with how light the recoil is, almost non-existent.

Specs:  10.5" RMW DI45 upper, Midwest Industries BUIS, Aimpoint T-1 w/LaRue tall mount,  PRI charging handle and TLR-2.  CNCguns lower with Palmetto State Armory LPK and Magpul grip.  I'm waiting on a thread protector to come in.

My only complaint is the lack of a bolt hold-open provision with the grease gun mags.  If anyone knows of a way to add one, please help a brother out.

This is my BAZ45 with a Oly upper and a Enidine hydraulic recoil buffer that I had for 2 years and it runs good!! Tha laser engraving is my Colorado state cattle brand. What I was thinking on doing was loading up some 45 ACP to 460 Rowland specs. Has anybody tried this? I thought I would give it a try to see if I like the 460 round before I ream it out to fit a 460 case.

Yikes! That's an awful lot of pressure for .45ACP. If you're going to play with loads that hotter than standard .45 I'd at least use some .45 Super brass. Kabooms are no fun.

I too believe the 45 acp case will be the weak point. I have a 45 Win Mag Upper that RMW built so
I'm fairly sure the 460 Rowland won't overstress an upper.

Good Luck but do this safely..

Aside from what the guys above suggested......I'd loose the enidine buffer...because of the hydraulic  portion I don't think the recoil impulse (for lack of a better word) "sees" the weight of the buffer the same as a solid heavy buffer. I have a couple of the buffers of which you speak and in guns that normally only run with a no weight buffer.....they run well with the enidine. As pressures go up in a blowback....additional mass is your friend.

[#16]
Yea, I'm not overly keen on this buffer. It works better in my M4 anyways. I think I'm going to try some loads with a low end 460 and work my way up using a chrony. I think it will be fun to see what happens. I will keep you all posted on how it goes.

                                               Thanks, Chris

The oly does not have a suported chamber so before you hit the 460s pressure you will rupture a case. 45acp is 21Kpsi & the 460R is 40Kpsi. 45super levels in 45super brass is as far as i would go with the oly upper.

.45 cases will not take that in an Oly upper.  The safe thing to do would be stronger brass, heavy buffer and stiffer spring.

I still have some of the super heavy springs that I made up before the DI uppers were available.  Let me know if you want one.

FreezinSig,

I use the current production Olympic polymer, 18 round, .45 ACP  mags.  Two lowers: In the M4 type stocked lower, a 9 mm buffer and regular carbine spring; in the A2 stocked lower, standard A2 buffer and spring.  Same set up is also used for 5.56/.223; 9 mm; and 7.62x39.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

Not legal advice, MHO, YMMV, etc.

You should be able to use a standard buffer ,spring, and any hammer with the Oly.

Note: Ron's got a lower on order for me. We're going to make it up as a pistol lower for use with my 7-1/2". If all
goes well and it quits raining in Florida some day Ron and I will get together and do a video of that set up sometime
in the near future...

Ron's had my 10.5", 5.5", 45 ACP Carbine since our last trip to the range,. He's been doing some trick work to it.
I also had him cut down the front of the upper receiver so a 40mm Scope bell would set down properly. Just have
to get the scope now. What he handed me and asked me to test is Unbelievably Awesome... It's a lower that Ron
modified to Run Glock's larger caliber magazines. I'll let him explain further at his discretion....

I shot a picture of the set up for you to see.. Also did a video of 2 of my Glock / Kriss 30 round mags loaded
with 10 rounds each. This so we didn't end up with a boring 5 minute video.... Zero failures of this set up.
I put my name on the list in a heartbeat, with no hesitation....

BTW: WalMart's Federal 45 ACP Ammo was used in the video... Nothing Fancy.

This is great news! I remember you were test firing the DI bolt face past the larger Glock 21 magazine design that day....awesome.  When DDLES decides to release their G21 lower, Brother, I'd love your help to get it to work out with your upper.

The DI45 upper you made for me is amazing.  I let my friends shoot it and the ones that loved my 9mm AR, looked at it as archaic and reached for the DI45 afterward at the range.

Stock must be flipped to the extended / locked position for the firearm to function.  Its simply for ease of transport while rapid deployment is an available option.  Check out the Law Tactical website or the thread here.

DDLES Glock 21 lowers are officially a GO!

Jon Beaudry of DDLES launched their Glock Large Frames on their website today!

You can use DDLES for a .45 conversion now.

Anybody want to comment on the performance of OLY blow-back uppers with various barrel lengths? Does the length matter? Given the blow-back action what's the performance-minded optimal length for standard .45 ball ammo? I see they used to make factory pistol and SBR offerings. I was thinking of around 8" - how will that matter if at all?

Barrel length changes the effective range and in a blowback, shorter barrels should not have any effect on performance. If I'm not mistaken.45 ACP hardball was originally designed for a 5" barrel pistol.

There have been some reports of slightly more velocity with longer barrel lengths up to 10". I run .45 Super in my Oly uppered AR45 lower and am getting around 100 fps on average. Some brands of .45 Super I tried have gone up to 1200 fps. with a 16" barrel.

Most likely not, the grease gun mag is a straight run mag, where as the glock mag is a slant run mag. If that makes sense.
