Wow, I tried to mod a 20 round Pmag. It would only do 6 or 7 rounds before the
lips would spread. Never considered using a 30 round... Duh on me. Looks like it works great. Maybe the feed lip area of the 30 rounder is tougher...?????? Ron's Modified Grease Gun Mags are the ultimate for high capacity.. Flawless. I've still got Ron's insert and 4 modified PPS-43 Mags. 8-9 rounds is about it for them. I've gotta look into the 30 round Pmag for sure..... Dave S |

I am hoping you have some success, this would seriously open up some possibilities with a standard lower! I just don't see how the rounds can possibly be secure in that oversized mag body. Maybe this is something that will marginally work for static plinking... |

This is my BAZ45 with a Oly upper and a Enidine hydraulic recoil buffer that I had for 2 years and it runs good!! Tha laser engraving is my Colorado state cattle brand. What I was thinking on doing was loading up some 45 ACP to 460 Rowland specs. Has anybody tried this? I thought I would give it a try to see if I like the 460 round before I ream it out to fit a 460 case.

Yikes! That's an awful lot of pressure for .45ACP. If you're going to play with loads that hotter than standard .45 I'd at least use some .45 Super brass. Kabooms are no fun.

I have a 45 Win Mag Upper that RMW built so I'm fairly sure the 460 Rowland won't overstress an upper. Good Luck but do this safely.. Dave S |

I have a couple of the buffers of which you speak and in guns that normally only run with a no weight buffer.....they run well with the enidine. As pressures go up in a blowback....additional mass is your friend. |
|
|
Yea, I'm not overly keen on this buffer. It works better in my M4 anyways. I think I'm going to try some loads with a low end 460 and work my way up using a chrony. I think it will be fun to see what happens. I will keep you all posted on how it goes.
Thanks, Chris |

The safe thing to do would be stronger brass, heavy buffer and stiffer spring. I still have some of the super heavy springs that I made up before the DI uppers were available. Let me know if you want one. |

I've run .45 Super at 1100 fps in my Oly upper with good results. You can sure tell by the crack you're not shooting ACP rounds.

FreezinSig,
I use the current production Olympic polymer, 18 round, .45 ACP mags. Two lowers: In the M4 type stocked lower, a 9 mm buffer and regular carbine spring; in the A2 stocked lower, standard A2 buffer and spring. Same set up is also used for 5.56/.223; 9 mm; and 7.62x39. Best of luck whatever you decide. Not legal advice, MHO, YMMV, etc. |
|
|
You should be able to use a standard buffer ,spring, and any hammer with the Oly.

I remember you were test firing the DI bolt face past the larger Glock 21 magazine design that day....awesome. When DDLES decides to release their G21 lower, Brother, I'd love your help to get it to work out with your upper. The DI45 upper you made for me is amazing. I let my friends shoot it and the ones that loved my 9mm AR, looked at it as archaic and reached for the DI45 afterward at the range. http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p588/SCatalyst/CNC%20AR45/75d80ed4.jpg I mailed your ears, sorry for the delay...I hope you don't want to beat me up. lol |

That looks Tacticool. Does it have a special carrier, buffer system, or do you have to fold the stock to cycle?

Its simply for ease of transport while rapid deployment is an available option. Check out the Law Tactical website or the thread here. |

Is anyone currently stocking the Oly .45 upper? They seem to be sold out everywhere. I have a Cavarms lower and am waiting for the Hahn magwell conversion and buffer. Will the RMW upper work with this setup (unmodified GG mags) as well?

Anybody want to comment on the performance of OLY blow-back uppers with various barrel lengths? Does the length matter? Given the blow-back action what's the performance-minded optimal length for standard .45 ball ammo? I see they used to make factory pistol and SBR offerings. I was thinking of around 8" - how will that matter if at all? Barrel length changes the effective range and in a blowback, shorter barrels should not have any effect on performance. If I'm not mistaken.45 ACP hardball was originally designed for a 5" barrel pistol. There have been some reports of slightly more velocity with longer barrel lengths up to 10". I run .45 Super in my Oly uppered AR45 lower and am getting around 100 fps on average. Some brands of .45 Super I tried have gone up to 1200 fps. with a 16" barrel. |

Will a Glock 21 mag slightly modified to catch fit the grease gun mag block? I don't currently own a glock 21 to see if the mag will fit the AR mag well.
