I thought that the website listed availability for the Syrac Pistons as 4/30/16. Now, they are listed as 6/30/16. It is quite possible that I am remembering it wrong but I just checked a few weeks ago and thought I had ordered one with the expectation that I would have it in a few weeks.

Does anyone else recall the availability?

I am considering dropping this altogether and just putting in a gas block.  I could finish this darn thing in days rather than months.

Thanks

If you're in the market for a Syrac piston kit, I would honestly buy a Superlative Arms (SA) kit over Syrac.  Tony's customer service alone is well worth it and he has taken care of several of our guys building up SA piston kits (which are refinements of the Syrac system).  SA previously manufactured the kits for Syrac and they hold the patent for the bleed-off feature, if I recall correctly.

If you're looking for a carbine length kit, shoot me a PM...I might be able to help you out.

I second Superlative Arms. Let us know of this 10% off code works still. Favforum16

I ordered from Syrac last year and it took two months. It's boringly reliable, but I'm going to give Superlative Arms a try next time.

I wrote them and they got back with me quickly... a supply chain hiccup set them back 2 months, apparently.

I was able to cancel the order and will just move forward with a gas block/tube.  I've been holding off on ordering a handguard until I had the piston in hand to measure and make some comparisons with things I have and just want to get this build done. This will open up some options for me anyway, and since my can is approaching daylight I didn't want to end up waiting on a piston and otherwise ready to go.

I was in for the pistol length this time around.  I'll consider the suggestions next time something comes up.

Happy building.

I saw that the other day when I browsed the site hoping for the LW carrier...very tempting for a 14.5" LW build.  That would open several options on LW barrels...

I have a thread for that. With no optics with the .750 Sup Arms kit and Adams Arms Pencil + Ti VG6 Epsilon muzzle brake I got my entire rifle to 4 lbs 13.8 oz. If you need any tips on ultra LW hit me up. Faxon .625 14.5 Pencil is the lightest in the market. Obviously you could get lighter than my build with this setup.

Yeah, I saw your build thread, which is impressive btw, and even looked up the Ti brake on eBay...very good copies.  This SA piston gun is a slow build as I have a Larue BuildAR build ongoing also.

The good thing about building a retrofit kit is you don't have to drop 2500 all in one sitting.

Just built an exact DI carbon copy of the build, but I used the Faxon Pencil 14.5, V7 Ti Carrier, V7 Inconel Gas Tube, and Next Intent Tactical Gas Block. Upper and Muzzle Device is the same. Eager to see what the final weight is.
