I know the older M6 used the Vltor stock, but will the Vltor "A5" will work with the M6 upper correct?

Upper has nothing to do with the stock.  Any milspec stock should fit on the LWRC's buffer tube.

I plan on using the A5 buffer/buffer tube with the M6. The upper I have didn't come with a buffer and I think the need of a heavy buffer is needed....I want to get it right the first time.

Uppers never come with buffers.  But yes, it will work.

True, not commonly shipped with most complete uppers you buy from most sources.  However, the LWRC uppers that CDNN bought a ton of directly from LWRC all came shipped with a buffer.  Don't know why...nothing particularly special about them...can't remember if they were H's or H1's.

i've always used vltor a5 buffers in my lwrc stuff. they over gas a little imo. h1 and h2 buffers worked best for me. heavier ones increased felt recoil, too muh reciprocating mass i guess.

They shipped with a standard carbine spring and an h2 buffer.

OP, there should be no reason an m6a2 wouldn't work with an a5 buffer setup, in fact, it'd probably help it.

Yep, you're correct...H2.  My M6A2 came with a buffer that is unmarked.  I just inspected my M6A2-S buffer, and it is marked H2.  Both buffers weigh just over 4.5oz, so they're both clearly H2 buffers.  Not sure why the M6A2 buffer wasn't marked since both uppers were brand new factory uppers.  The unmarked buffer has been etched "H2" to avoid confusion in the future.  Glad you pointed this out.
