I recall they were pretty early to market a number of years ago and thought the lack of buffer tube / folding stock might be popular.

Anyone have one or thoughts?

Proprietary systems that are not compatible w/ the rest of the AR market have not traditionally fared well.

I had one for a short time. It ran fine but I never tried it suppressed since RRA doesn't (or didn't maybe they've fixed it) recommend this system for suppressed use.

The system is an interesting one and it is very similar to what SIG is using with the MCX. The big difference is the RRA runs a single recoil spring above the bolt carrier while the SIG uses two springs.

I've always liked the concept of the AR15 pistol, but the buffer tube sticking out there kind of kills a bit of the concealability of the weapon for my preference.  No...I'm not talking about trying to stick one of these things in your pants or such, but having a 5.56 chambered weapon that can be stuffed in a small package is very appealing.  I have a Kel-Tec PLR16, a relatively cheap version of the RRA model.  Without a buffer tube you get a noticeable amount of increased recoil, but it doesn't make the gun unusable.  Even at the low pricepoint of the PLR, it has been totally reliable.  I've never had a jam or FTF.  I can stick this gun in a medium sized Camelback or stuff it into a very small space in a vehicle, home, or other location.  You stick a small red dot on one of these, and you can easily hit man-sized targets at 100 yards.  I'm not touting the PLR over the RRA, and I think the RRA is a better quality weapon.  However, the PLR is less expensive, and a decent advantage is its lighter weight.  I would not expect the PLR to be a good candidate for a long life under high, hard round count...but then...that's not what I got it for.  These short, 5.56 pistols offer a smaller package for better concealment.  I'm not poo-pooing AR15 pistols by any means, and those guns are without question the choice for suppressed use.  These bufferless models, however, offer another option, and options are good.

I have the carbine. I like it a LOT. It runs VERY clean. Even cleaner than my SCAR 16. The SCAR is clean, but the feedramp gets a little dirty, and there is a little to clean on the moving parts group. On the RRA PDS carbine - after shooting 150 rounds - the gun was like spotless inside. I cleaned and reoiled the gun just out of habit - but it didn't need it at all.

The carbine is very accurate, and is well made.

I almost bought one last year, and read all the reviews. I ended up getting a Sig 516 instead. But, a few weeks ago, the local shop had a couple in again, and had a $200 off sale. So, I bought it for $1150. Worth it, IMHO...

Not much on the forum about it. But, all the reviews I could find were positive except for people upset that the gun didn't work suppressed as they were originally promised. That's a non issue for me...

I've got one of the pistols with the rail handguards. Put 100 rounds thru it and Shipwreck is right, it stays really clean. I use mine as a truck gun. Seems to be really well made and it shoots well. Just wishing they would get the gas plug figured out for suppressed use.
