So I've began to assemble parts for a piston build this year. A BCM blem upper, PSA blem lower, and a DPMS lower parts kit have kicked it off. The fact that I had to pay to have several trees taken down has put me a bit behind schedule, but I should have it done over the next several months.
This is my vision for the finished product.

My only concerns are the fit of the XLP under the hand guard and the operation of the control knob. I've noted that the knob needs to be positioned at 90 deg from the barrel for cleaning and maintenance. I may just go with the standard AA kit if I need to have most of the gas block sticking out of the handguard. It would save some money.
I think I'll go with a BCM barrel, but I have been contemplating a Bison Armory barrel in .223 Wylde.
Eventually I will run suppressed so I went with the SilencerCo. muzzle device.
Any advice for noob building his first gun?
