Hopefully this is okay to ask in this forum.
I have been offered a SIG 516 in FDE for two pistols I own- a SIG P229 non railed model,German frame, comes with Crimson Trace grips, three mags and case, etc
The other is a P226R with one mag and case.
Both are in .40,have night sights and in good condition.

His rifle comes with two mags and no box or anything else.It is a Gen 2.
I like gas piston rifles,I have however read of issues with the 516.

Go for it or not?

I own the SIG 516 Gen 2 (in FDE) and I absolutely love it. I haven't had a single malfunction, even when running suppressed. Shoots tight groups and is a breeze to clean. The gas block is waaay overbuilt, which tends to make the rifle feel heavier than your typical DI AR. If you don't mind the weight then you can't go wrong. I also owned the 10.5" version and it was just as reliable. A lot of R&D went into designing this rifle and you can tell by the build quality. Again, my only complaint is that the gas block is built like a tank which really isn't necessary.
