Hi,
Posted this pic in the Colt industry forum but thought I'd share here too. Added a Knights foregrip and EoTech 552. Have not shot it yet but just deep cleaned it and lubed it. Very happy so far. I am a big fan of the piston ARs and thought I might as well treat myself. My other piston AR is a DPMS with a CMMG kit that so far has run flawlessly.

I had the 6940p and sold it for $3K during the panic a few years back. It shot like a dream. Wish I had it back. Extremely easy to clean and highly reliable.

Buy another, there are some deals on them now, Clyde has them for around $1500. I wish I could find a 6940p shorty upper.

I had one, zero problems and probably one of the most accurate of any AR I have owned/built.

I sold it for a 300 blk project. Kind of wish I hadn't.

Finally was able to get the 6940P out to the range today for a 3 gun shoot. Ran about 250 rounds through her. This rifle is really something special. Well balanced, accurate, super smooth and it just feels good to shoot. I let 2 others use her and they noticed the difference as well. Below are pictures of her after the run. I was surprised how clean the piston block exhaust was. The action was super clean as expected. For a 5.56 rifle, this is the one I will use if the SHTF.

Is their piston system a proprietary design? Long stroke or short?
I don't think I've ever come across pictures of it disassembled.

Not sure how I feel about this configuration of the op-rod.
The middle part is the piston. Small parts love to go missing. Murphy's Law and all.

Sorry for the delay. This is the condition of the piston after the first use.

Update: Ran her again today, another 250 rounds through her as fast as I could pull the trigger at times and she ran flawlessly. I was shooting at the same time with 6 others to warm up and all of my rounds where in the center of mass circle on the target where others were outside the circle. I was the most accurate. This included switching back and forth to pistol. Not sure if the stability of the piston style having a bit more weight out front keep the recoil at bay and keeps me on target but this rifle is extremely accurate. IMHO, I am a pretty good shot as well, at least that is what the targets tell me. I have a PWS in .308 on the way in a few weeks so it will be interesting to see the contrast between these two and how they affect my accuracy. Pics to follow as I did not clean or oil her since the last time I shot. I took the photos and put her back together last time so it will be interesting to see what she looks like inside now.

I am thinking the same thing ... I must own somewhere close to 25 AR15's ... and not a single piston one

Nice weapon, had one for a few years before moving on to PWS and LWRC. I think I paid a bit under $1100 for mine.

Took her out again today, still have not cleaned her. I am over 1000 rounds now. Will post pictures/video later. For a guy that cleans his firearms after each use, this has been killing me. Will most likely clean her after this just to be a good steward. She ran like a champ, not one issue and she sure is sweet to shoot.
