Hi there. I desperately need your help,  I am searching for a  tool to disarm the upper barrel of my AR Sig Sauer 516. I tried to contact the factory and they couldn’t answer my request.
I really appreciate if you can help me. I am tired of searching for information. If I can’t fix this situation then it was a really bad investment. Do you have any recommendations

Disarm the upper barrel?  I'd love to help you OP, but I'm afraid I'm a bit confused as well at your description.  Perhaps, post up some pics?

I read online where someone had to make his own barrel wrench, I used to have the link as it was quite informative, but I'm sure you can Google it to find it. Apparently the barrel nut is proprietary and only Sig has the tool, which they will not sell. When I attended the Sig Academy in NH, I asked the head gunsmith about it and he told me that there is NOT a barrel wrench on the market that will remove their barrel nut. And he said that a standard barrel nut will not work with their piston system as it's too large in diameter for the piston rod. Plus, the gas block is pressed onto the barrel, so if you were to damage the barrel nut, you would have to press the gas block off and come up with another barrel nut (modifying a reg barrel nut) since Sig will not sell you a replacement barrel nut, requiring you to send in the upper to be repaired.

Hope this little info helps.
