Hello folks... Have a question. I'm currently running a middy AA piston on an 18" barrel. love Love L O V E it! I'm about to build a pistol, however, most likely in 300BO.
I know that the BO has had issues with not making enough gas to reliably cycle a piston, but was wondering if that improves with shorter barrels. I really want to stay piston but don't want the thing to be a reliability issue waiting to happen as this will likely be my primary HD piece once completed. I'd like to run about a 12" barrel, give or take, since the BO is very efficient and was originally designed around a 9" barrel.
I also have plans to tax stamp my current lower so that I could put this upper on it. I figure in the woods of East Texas it could even be hunted with pretty effectively (to 150yds or so), and carried by my 105lb daughter without issue (and no, you KX3's out there do not get to see a pic!).
So what say ye, is it doable?
You gents at Adams are welcome to chime in and share with the hive on this one, I can't be the only guy out there wondering.
