Hello fellow retro heads. I'm working on a DOE clone which has been hectic to say the least. Finally got my Garrison FSB kit today that also includes the handguard cap and blast shield. I tried fitting the FSP to the ADCO DOE barrel and with a slight tap of a machinist's hammer (the rubber end) it slid right on. My problem is that the FSB has no taper pin (or roll pin?) hole drilled. Have any of you run into this issue or am I missing something? If so, did you drill the FSP pin hole yourself, and how did you do it? Fairly new to AR machining stuff, done a 0% lower from scratch and many 80%'ers, but never done any taper pin holes for FSBs. Is a standard taper pin that is used for the DOE flip up sight post? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks ya'll

If you have the slightest doubt about your ability to do it, send it to ADCO or find a competent gunsmith to do it.

You'll hate yourself forever if you fuck it up.

JT does an AWESOME job of installing front sight bases - hole drilling and all

Thanks all who've posted thus far, both of those options are definitely on my list of consideration. I've dealt with Steve @ ADCO and JT, so I'd know I'd be in good hands either way.

Yes they are, like I said, its been a hectic build. I've been kinda rushed as I'm trying to beat the election in .case Hillary gets in. So I've been searching hard for the parts to finish one of my dream AR builds. I contacted Tom @ Liemohn manufacturing, who was a complete pleasure to deal with but he told me he wasn't making DOE front sights for a while as he had some personal projects to finish. In the mean time he sold me the handguard cap and blast shield (both are very nice pieces). There's someone on gunbroker who's selling doe front kits with repro HGs that I messaged stating I was looking for just the front sight as I had all the other parts. He quoted me two weeks on front end pieces and never got back to me. Around the end of those two weeks, just luck had it I saw a DOE 300blk upper on GB and it was from Garrison, so I bid on a DOE front end kit and got it:
