My original topic got archived due to the wait from BATF, so I'll link it here:
http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=3&f=123&t=680150
....and now, the rest of the story.
I received my paperwork from the BATF yesterday and picked up my upper from my FFL dealer who's been holding it in his safe.  They were introduced to each other last night.  This was my first build and I'm well pleased with the results.  Braceman did my engraving and all other work on this including shortening the barrel, re working the FSB, making the fake Mod., engraving, parkerizing, and attaching the stock assembly.  THANK YOU BRACEMAN!

Also, this project could never have turned out so nice if it weren't for Matt-Livefornov, who has created these wonderful stocks.  I cannot say enough about how perfect these are, or how grateful I am that he took his time, money, and effort, to make these go from a paper napkin, to reality.  There are other stock sets out there but I know that I would have always looked upon it with some disappointment. THANK YOU LIVEFORNOV!

I am more than pleased with the final outcome.  And I'd say to anyone wanting one, there's no better time than now to do it.  I believe I built this one for about $1850ish.  This includes parts, labor, anodizing, engraving, SBR paperwork, and postage.  Not bad IMO." />

I found an NOS jump case that this fits in very nicely so she has her own little case.

Damn, that looks good ! If I didn't already build one I'd be building one now. Even though I have the DOD stamps, I didn't stamp mine. I think the DOD stamp came after. I could be wrong. Anyways Nice build.

Thanks SandWMan.  I agree on the stamp but since this is an "issue" piece vs. the earlier Mod 07, I thought Id add it, plus I really dig the look of the stamp on the receivers.  Artistic license I guess

Man Mark that thing looks so slick it's not even funny!

I got retro goose bumps seeing the big pics of it all put together. This is such a beautiful rifle platform.

I appreciate the kind words, its really nice to see the builds completed in true form like yours!

Yes, maybe yet this week?  I also want to put in the .22 conversion kit.  With the fake mod and the .22 kit it should be awesome.

Only fitting you should fire it with all the work you put into it.

I'm SUPER jealous 37.

607's are the coolest, most oddball (in a good way) AR's ever made.
I'd really love to build one, but, as SBR is a no-go here in the land of fruits and nuts, there is no point.

Every time I see a beauty like this 607 it makes me want to dust off all of my parts and finish mine. That is a great build, be proud.

Now's the time to do it.  If you want a great stock, contact Matt, they are sweet.

All and all it was fairly easy to acquire all the parts.  Waiting for Matt to perfect his stock was nail biting frustrating but looking back and now having one installed, the wait was soooo worth it.  Other than the stock, and of course the Form 1 BATF wait, the build went pretty quick.

Sad part is that I have had all of the parts in a box for years. Louis (Stoner25) made most of the 607 parts. I have to finish the Braceman engraved and reprofiled lower, get my stamp and have JT cut my barrel down. The stamp and the trust process stopped me and I moved on to other projects like my prototype and two 601's (brown and green). I may have to move the 607 up behind the prototype making it next in line.

I built both a 601 and 607 and hands down the 607 wins.

Nice, I meant did you rivet the front sling mount yourself, and if so, what did you use?

Sorry, wondered if thats what you meant.  I believe I used a roll pin vs. rivet

At some point I'm sure Matt will stop making these stocks.  When that happens there will be a ton of guys kicking themselves wishing they wouldn't have put off their build.............................and a deafening moment of silence.

This I guarantee!

****607 RANGE REPORT****

FINALLY!  After almost a year from deciding to take on this project, locating all the parts, having the receiver & barrel work done by Braceman, off to Victor for finishing, getting stock #1 from Matt, then getting everything assembled AND waiting 5ish months for my SBR paperwork to be official, I got to take her to the range today for the first time.

She operated and fired flawlessly.  No feed or fire issues.  Also tried out my .22 conversion kit in it and it was sooooooo fun shootin it with .22s.

Thanks again to everyone that helped me along the way to build my dream carbine.

***PS, If you're thinkin about building one of these, just do it, it is hands down, the funnest AR15 I've ever fired.

Thanks guys.  I have the Delrin but used a short carbine buffer for live fire.  I think Matt made the Delrins more as a display thing?

Yeh, well, uhm.... like in idiot I forgot my spotting scope so I only got it zero'd at 25 meters but it was within 1/2".  Barrel is a brand new Green Mtn 1/7 IIRC.  Braceman cut it down for me.

The good news on that is I have an excuse to go back out next week and use the 100m range.

Ya, I don't really like the idea of the no bumper models. On yours Mark I used buffer weights and had some trouble with those roll pins walking out on testing.

I read more about the one 101ABN handled a few years ago. He said it was one solid weight. That said I made this one which looks a lot closer to the original. When I have some time Im going to put a thicker body on it and shoot some rounds out of it.

I have put plenty of rounds down with my Delrin H with a bumper with no issues, but for every day, Ill take aluminum. That said Im going to call them display only from now on.

Looks fantastic!

What was the final solution for getting the lower receiver registered?
I recall you having some trouble with the retro engraving causing confusion with the ATF.

Wanting to know, as I'm about to go for a SBR stamp for a retro engraved 607 myself.
It's all Matt's fault

BATF wanted :

Mark,

Corrections to be made:

a). Model should be: GX-5857.  (Receiver is marked as this)

b). Name of original manufacturer in section 4a: Mark H....... Toledo, OH.  White out or cross out any other information in section 4a

This info directly from BATF

Good luck
