Received mine today. Looks good.

Received mine today. I asked if they could leave the troy logo off. View Quote that would have been nice if they disclosed that. it was a deal breaker for many folks. |

Umm...they left off their logo...and their manufacturer information?
|
|
|
Hmm. Pictures gone, OP edited to remove mention of no logo...
Didn't mean to scare anyone off! I'd like to know more about how/if that was actually a Troy lower and how it was transferred...did the ATF form read "Troy" or "Colt?" |
|
So does the standard Troy XM177e2 come with their Troy logo engraved or not?
I can't see OP's picture.... Did OP ask Troy to omit their logo or something? |

OP's pic had just the markings on the magwell. no troy logo and no mfg info above the selector. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I would be interested if the rifles don't show the logo. |

Sounds like the Troy logo comes standard and to not have it is a special request. |

Just for everyone like me who is curious about whether the Troy XM177E2 has the logo engraved on the lower....
The below is what the Troy technical team responded to my email: "Thank you for your email. In regards to your question. The XM177 do not come with the Troy logo engraved on the lower receiver. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns." This is a very good news for me since I do not like the Troy logo |

I didn't want to cause any problems but I found where they engraved the rifle. Yes, I asked them to not engrave the weapon. I shot it yesterday, trigger was a bit gritty but 100% function and was a hoot to shoot. http://hobbyhorse.com/guns/xm177_3.jpg http://hobbyhorse.com/guns/xm177_2.jpg http://hobbyhorse.com/guns/xm177_1.jpg http://hobbyhorse.com/guns/troy_4.jpg View Quote cool, nice place to engrave it. a lotta folks do their trust engraving there. glad we didn't spook you off |
|
That looks better than expected. Sounds like the 177 comes without the logo but the Son-Tay has it? I was on the fence about getting one or the other but that makes my decision much easier.
|
|
I think you have to request one without the logo. The GAU5 might be available that way but I don't know for sure.
|
|
As I stated above, from the reply from Troy tech team, the XM177 won't have their Troy logo.
"Thank you for your email. In regards to your question. The XM177 do not come with the Troy logo engraved on the lower receiver. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns." The laser engraving on the right side of the mag well is another story, and it is an extra option you don't have to do. |
|
I know Troy and all , but I still would consider buying one if the price point was better.
|
|
This may be a dumb question but what is the difference between the XM177E2 and the GAU-5/A/A? Also from the looks of it the later does in fact have the Troy logo engraved on the lower?
Definitely interested in picking one of these up, I'd wait for a colt but my guess is they are going to be 2x the price of these. |

View Quote The main thing is that the XM177E2 has a forward assist and GAU does not. And on the Troy clones, the XM lacks the Troy logo, while the GAU has it on the receiver. |

I received my XM177e2 yesterday. No Troy logo on left side. Its very nice and price is quite reasonable.

Now first logo than none, well I already cancelled mine awhile ago. Will just wait for the Colt retro to come out. sure might be more dough. But the Pony will do it for me.
Troy for the price will be a good one to beat up and shoot the heck out of.The Colt will be loved and fondled and oiled. much like a good Woman.... Saw the guy who ordered and got one. It looked good for the price.Glad they are happy with the Troy |

I didn't like them before with the logo etc but i like them a lot more now! |

Do these have a sear block in the lower receiver? With the way they are marked (Safe-Semi-Auto) I'd love to be able to put my RDIAS in there... |

that looks great.
thats slick the way they engraved to lower near the trigger. i wish more manufacturers would do that. |

Almost tempted to buy one, change out the delta ring, chop the barrel and turn into a XM177E1.
|

Now they put it out the way I would like. But now I am going to just wait for the COLT, Since I just shot the wad on a 66 date SP-1,and new in wrap 60's Armalite mags.It never fail's.. Right after funds sent. They change something up.
have to thin the herd some more on stuff I don't need. Retro is a sickness. And the worse is when you lived it in the first go around. Glad you got the XM nice looking rifle for that money. and minus mag well marking is a benefit. sometimes less billboard is better. |

Aw screw it when they open back up on the 11th. going to order the XM {no logo} and still get the Colt when that is ready to order.
for 1200 can't go wrong for a blaster. and My Colts can stay nice ha ha If they would have told me no logo from the start I would have not cancelled my order back in April..its all in the sales and lingo and service dept. I'm a easy touch for nice stuff. |

Retros of a feather flock together I am sure a few more will do the same.

Does anyone know the barrel twist rate ? View Quote 1/7.... Only a few differences. which are minor. Port door. The only one soon that will be out will be the Colt Clone Copy. Which will be a keeper for many I am sure. This is a fun one till the real stuff arrives. And at 1200 buck's {minus 50 donation}is pretty fair. |

Does anyone know the barrel twist rate ? View Quote The TROY GAU-5/A/A is the most authentic, fully functional military carbine replica ever produced. These 5.56MM semi automatics, are manufactured to exact military specifications. The flash suppressor and grenade ring are permanently mounted to the chrome lined 1/12 twist barrel (OAL 16”). The replica US Gov’t markings on the side of the receiver combined with the conspicuous placement of Troy’s markings on the bottom of the receiver make this firearm nearly indistinguishable from the actual military issue GAU. |
