Many times re-issues cause the originals to go up in value. It may just cause a re-interest in older models.

These are the ones being done with the guys from US Armament and the same guys who do the Colt Bulldog and 1903.
I have talked to the owner a few times about them and need to give them a call. Curt Wolf is the owner and he should be there, an older grey haired heavy set guy and if you see him he will be happy to talk to you about them. They are supposed to be doing them in limited runs and there will be factory SBRs and supposedly spare parts available. If I recall correctly somebody on here alluded to the fact that they were involved in the project making parts I believe? The last I talked to them they had just gotten the official go ahead from Colt and I thought they were going to start with the 602 since Armalite didn't want to play along with using their name for a proper 601

Now that I look at the picture again even though it's hard to see in such a crappy photo, it may be a 602 as it has a three prong on it. I can't make much else out though.

They're A1 and E2 rollmarked with serial number ranges in the right place with a V prefix.

Cool, but my future GAU-5/A/A will be a SBR with the correct barrel length.
 But definitely cool regardless. I love the looks of the old school carbine and rifle. |

So what thread should I reply in? I just spent about 45 minutes talking to Curtis at the Colt booth. It is U.S. Ordnance that is involved with Colt. There are going to be many unhappy guys, and many happy guys.......just depends on where you are riding on the "retro" fence. The repops won't be available until after Shot Show. Supposedly, they will be released after ALL of the versions are finalized......602, 603, 604, 607, xm177, xm177e1, xm177e2, couple of the GAU models......
I handled one of the xm177 stocks.......anodized as the originals. Vinyl Acetate will be applied on the appropriate models. Details will be as close to exactly original as possible........and it sounds as if they are going to be VERY close, if not exact, as originals............to include serial numbers, with the addition of the "V". They've had forging dies made up for slab, partial, and full fence lowers......exactly to Colt engineering drawings. We discussed 607 stocks in great length..........even the fact that the originals had the .500 rod threaded into the receiver via 7/16th threads. Curtis is attuned to every minute detail.............he'd fit in with the most anal of retro heads. We talked about pricing for the rifles, carbines, and models that would have to be sold as SBR's, of with there will be authentic SBR's. I'll leave those prices unsaid at this time. they're tentative and subject to change. Suffice it to say that they will be higher than run of the mill Colt pricing of available AR's, but less than what I thought they might be. I know what it takes to build some of the various retro models. It's not an inexpensive hobby, right? Pics to follow when I get them loaded. edit. someone bemoaned the white lettering. That won't be applied on available models. That was applied for "show" purposes.

Call me cynical but I'll believe it when I see these actually available to purchase somewhere. Colt will find a way to screw this up.
And if it's a 603 and A1-marked, I'd prefer an A1 flash suppressor. Edit: I would like a source of newly manufactured A1 furniture and vinyl acetate covered aluminum CAR stocks. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Anyway I'm interested in these although the limited run talks make me wonder if I'll be able to get one at a reasonable cost. I'd be in for a M16A1 or GAU-5/A clone(sbr). Hopefully they do well with these and move a little more further. I'd love a colt m16a2 clone(with the proper barrel profile) as well as a colt a2 m4 clone(14.5 sbr). |

I think this is very cool but, unless they sell for ~$900 (which I doubt, given the investment in tooling), I'm afraid I won't be adding any to the stable.
I do hope they sell well, though! If they recoup their investment and turn decent profits perhaps they'll consider running them regularly and, eventually, cheaper. |

In previous conversation with Curt he did say that spare parts would be available!
I wouldn't expect spare receivers but you never know what may show up perhaps lacking the correct markings or something? It's going to be a high cost of start up tooling so I'm sure that somebody is going to want to recoup their costs. |

I had more fun building mine. Good for Colt to do this but who out there had rather have this than build their own? Glad I built mine. What about the US property? Colt's gonna put that on new rifle for civilians?
