There was a guy a few years back on this forum selling unissued Colt charging handles and I bought a few. I was digging through some of my old parts and found a charging handle and am wondeing if this is one of them.
Anyone know how to tell the difference between a Colt and a commercial charging handle? This one does seem heavier built than commercial pieces but other than that???
Thanks

Looks milspec.  Commercial usually doesn't have as much meat at latch roll pin hole or was the case years ago and generally ride right up against outer edge where milspec is off the edge.

I believe today many of thecommercial  mfg's have caught wind to this and locate hole farther in towards center but that used to be the biggest difference.  Now it's also  coatings,  materials used  etc.  Term milspec has been rather abused where AR platform is concerned and generally doesn't even apply to parts it's being used in conjunction with regardless of the sales hype one reads.
