JT took a little fall yesterday and is a little stove-up. He didn't go to the hospital and is at home doing fine.
Take care John Craig ETA: To my understanding John has worse injuries then first thought. He has a broken neck from the fall that happen on Sunday. He spent some time in the hospital but now is recovering at home. God speed John Thomas... ETA: He is back to work on light duty and will start working on parts as early as this week. |

Ah jeez, take care JT!!
Hope you can still work your retro magic...... |

Thanks guys. To make a long story short, I was adjusting my TV antenna. I fell about 15' to the ground. I have a pretty big bump on my forehead, my wrist is sprained, and my neck and shoulders are sore and stiff; I'm moving pretty slowly, but I'll be okay with some rest. I got pretty lucky, really.
If you happen to have any parts in my shop right now, or on the way here, there will be a few days of delay. Thanks again, John Thomas |

John,
Take it easy.... Only two things are SUPPOSED to fall from the sky, bird sh*t and paratroopers. Last time I checked, you are neither! LOL Last time I fell from a roof, I was 30 years younger than I am now, and was backing up a K-9 officer chasing a burglar that went "airborne across roof tops... GET WELL SOON.. Bernie |

I hope you bounce back quickly, John, but maybe it's time for you to accept the inevitable.
It's nothing to be ashamed of. It gets to all of us eventually. Sounds like this was just God's way of suggesting...it's time to get cable. |
Hope you have a speedy recovery. I've almost done the same thing a couple of times. But with the advent of satellite TV it's been a long time since I've had to go out and adjust my antenna!

Eep! Glad you got away with just those injuries.
Get well soon. |
John
If you would have retired to Fishhawk like I wanted you to you wouldn't be so banged up. The Fishwawk area has Brighthouse cable with about 300 or 400 channels. Nobody has to climb on their rooftops to get TV reception. |
You lucked out, I know someone who died from a fall that was shorter than that.
so know is the right time to send all that stuff in right?
Just kidding. Sorry to hear about that John. Take your time and get well. Don't be ashamed about getting old... I hear retros in now! |
Get well soon. Think of it as mandatory time off for a few days

John, if I could suggest organic sea salt baths? Get the kinetic energy out your body while you can.
The salt acts as a grounding material to absorb the excess energy. About 1/2 a pound should work, 30-40 mins, and rinse off after if you want. Speedy healing!! (don't use table salt btw, epsom if you can't get the organic) Cheers. |
John, you gotta be more careful. There's nothing on tv that's that good.
I spent a couple nights in the hospital due to a fall from a similar height a few years ago. Two broken ribs and a concussion and I'm reticent to even hang the Christmas lights anymore (I still do the lights, but I let the trees grow w/o trying to trim branches anymore). Quoted:

John, Ouch! That was a big Opps!
Do take all the time you need for a healthy recovery. Your in our prayers!! |
Yipes!
Take it easy Dude. Time to start hiring some things out. It happens to all of us at some age. Maybe you should consider a massage or a chiropractic visit? |
I had a vision of Al Bundy falling off his roof. Happened to me a few years ago, but the Gardenia bushes broke my fall.
Get well soon and take it easy. |
Glad to hear you are alright. As stated maybe you simply needed a few days off. Hope for a quick recovery and yes you were probably very lucky. Old friend of mine fell less than that and shattered his wrist and elbow and was never the same even after many surgeries.
Geez, John that could have been a lot worse. Take some time, and heal properly.
Ouch indeed.
Will one of you who is jump qualified please call John and do a little remedial training on how to execute a proper PLF (parachute landing fall)? |
Yo John, be careful, a guy could get hurt falling that far.
Get well quick |
Geese John, take it easy and get well. None of us are getting any younger these days and that is a high fall. Be well.
Best of luck John. Let me know if you need medical advice. ...lol. sending my warmest thoughts.

DIBS on yer retro AR10
...a wise old lady once told me, " when you're over 40, you pay other people to get up on your roof" I think she was on to something. Godspeed and get well soon |
Dude, get netflix or a Roku stick.
TV antennae? Best wishes to you and speedy recovery. |

Well, I just heard from John, through his wife doing the typing, that he broke his neck in the fall yesterday.
He was in hospital all day, but is home now. He'll be down for a few months. I suggest we all re concentrate ours prayers for John and his family. I've let John and his wife know that if there is ANYTHING we can do, ask and it shall be done. JTs helped most of us out at one time or another, now it's our turn. |
Wishes for a speedy recovery.
By way of a thoughtful reminder... Packer great - Max McGee - met his demise in a fall from his roof while removing leaves. The moral I gained from this sad story, was to never do something dangerous, that I can pay others to do for me. |
Damn John, if you needed a break that badly, you could have just told us. No need to go and break your neck just to get some time off. . .
