I've been wanting a SBR for some time now. Just got my first NFA item ( a .45 supressor ) so now I'm ready !!!

The plan is to do a XM177 in all black with an A1 flash hider instead of a moderator ( still might get a brick or JT moderator for giggles) .  I'll keep this updated as I get parts. I'll also keep track of where I get the parts so new retro people can get ideas on where to shop if they need something for one of their builds.

Just ordered a black NDS m16a1 lower and a black NDS 604 slick side upper

So far I've got
: a NDS receiver set ( on order but oh so glorious )
: a set of M16a1 low leval night sights coming from MRM1A1 that he listed in the EE- ( might see if trijicon can replace the vial, if not I'll just leave it in its packaging)
: an early Colt slick side BCG I've had sitting around - having a free part ...... Priceless
: a no tick selector off the -EE
: a m16a1 ejection port off the -EE
: m16a1 black grip in exc cond - Apex
: m16a1 grip screw and star washer - Apex
: m16a1 flash hider that comes with correct  lock washer -Apex
: Colt vinyl acetate stock and 2 possision tube - EE
: Colt 6 hole handguards ( found them in my garage in an anmocan )
: spikes LPK -primary arms
: Anderson charging handle - primary arms
: Anderson receiver extention plate- primary arms

The hunt and unfortunately the wait is on

Updated on 11/07/15- m16a1 ejection port door found !!!
Updated on 11/10/15 - ordered some parts from apex( it's way to easy to buy more than you need there, I bought 2 grip screws because I
could)
Updated on 11/11/15- Esential Arms just finished a batch of aluminum car stocks , ordered 2 ( 1 for a future build )
Updated on 11/11/15 - going through some stuff in the garage ( I just moved ) and found a set of Colt 6 hole handguards I forgot about
Updated 11/13/15 - Esential arms stocks not mil spec as advertised , they have been returne.
Update 11/15/15- got an original Colt vinyl acetate stock and 2 possision buffer tube in the EE. I'm back on track.
Updated 11/25/15- got a spikes LPK , Anderson charging handle and Anderson mil spec receiver extebtion ordered from primary arms.

Welcome back my fellow Retro-holic!  Every time I try to leave by getting rid of my spare Retro parts, I ended up spending a lot more $$ to pick up the same damn parts down the road, provided I can even find the same parts.  Some of the parts, such as original 601 barrels are becoming so rare and if and when they do pop up, you'd have to give up an organ to buy one.  So it's best to just stick around and save a bunch of money.  In a way, it's like joining the mob, once you're in, you can never leave

Just scored a m16a1 ejection port on the EE. Man you have to be fast over there. I've been checking the EE every 1-2 hours. That takes care of the hard to find parts though.

Can anyone tell me if a Gau-5/a/a would have had forge flashing on the FSB ? I plan on sending a barrel to ADCO to have the bayonet lug removed and if needed forge flashing removed, thanks in advance !

After testing both stocks on my sp2 carbine and a lmt buffer tube I've decide to return the stocks. Both are way too sloppy in fit. I checked the internal diamiter of the stock body and it measures between 1.170 and 1.169 which is a commercial diameter. I'm just a little disappointed because these were sold to me as MILSPEC.  The one I ordered back in 2012 was a great fit. Oh well the search continues.

My original plan was to do a black a 1 lower but I had a extra partial fence and decided to sbr it.  With a black a 1 lower you couldn't run modern operas and it does not look too out of place

Pm your way. I double checked the website and it definitely says it should be MILSPEC. The site shows to have both commercial and mil spec

I have a Essential Arms carbine stock and didn't like the looseness on a mil spec tube, so added electrical tape down the interior of the stock tube, leaving the area with the locking lug free of any tape. It worked out pretty good as the tape has stayed in place, no curling or clogging and it quiets the whole thing down, no rattling.

So with brownels deciding to make 12.7" LW carbine barrels with rifle feed ramps I decided to make this an xm177 instead of a Gau5/a/a build. I'll have JT cut it down to 10". I also figured my slick side bolt carrier would go better on an xm177.

Also , would you guys consider it too much blasphemy for me to use a LaFrance twin gas tube ?..... Because I will be

Also my LGS has a bin of trijicon night sights for some odd ball handguns so I'm going to buy a set and pull the tritium tubes out to see if I can make my m16a1 night sight live again..... If it ever gets here......
