I have heard, but never seen, stories of the A1 / C7 style upper's carry handle rear sight "wings" getting bent.  Supposedly it doesn't impact or disrupt the zero of the rear sight at all.  Does anyone have any pictures of any examples of such?

Thanks.

One of my C7's has bent ears.  I can get a shot of it when I get home tonight.

It's not like they're bent in half, just caved in a little.

You can bend them back to their proper position, but, it takes a little care and patience.

I had to bend the "wings" on a 603 Upper Receiver awhile back, and it worked fine.

I actually saw how to do it in an M16 Maintenance Manual.  Sorry, can't remember which one, or which page.

We had several in my first unit with that type of damage.

Someone posted one here on the retro forum within the past 3 years I think that was pretty bad.

Not 3 or 42..."3-42."  (Section 3, pg 42.)
In that PDF, it's on page 112 of 232.  Image #2 shows how to straighten the bent wing...or at least the military way!

I had always heard that the ones with bent wings were super rare and highly sought after, and might would command many dollars.
