Cal30M1, I promise that I'll take real good care of her, and give her a place of honor in my home. Is that good enough for you to send her to me? She sure is PURR-TY, I'm green with envy. |

Something missing here? Like maybe a gas tube? Or are my eyes not seeing what is there?
Either way I am very jealous - neat carbine |

Thanks Morg. Now shut the computer off and get to writing!
Hal I'm back and forth on whether it should be distressed with the FA or a nice 603 upper. I REALLY DO like distressed rifles! Sputnik it's a J&T barrel that showed a 10" picture but the text PLAINLY said 10.5" so yes it DOES need a trip to Doctor John Thomas PhD. Thanks Denny! Sorry Navy Chief! The only thing I ship to AZ is money to Morg for books! Stoner I think the Stock Fairy screwed it up! Gonna go get my hack saw right now! Thanks RedFireDog! It IS a dream come true Doctor Thomas! I'm going to be needing YOUR hack saw skills for the barrel! Thanks Forager! No stamp HKILLER. It's still an 80% lower albeit a lower with the take down pin pocket drilled. I think they market them as a 90% lower. Hot dog that extra 1/2 inch is killing me! See above! Damn good eyes young Swifty! There's also no bolt or buffer or spring or trigger or hammer or sear or safety or mag catch or........ Thanks for you kind words everyone! After I mow the yard I'll try to get some pics of the lower! It's got a purty pony and some words and stuff scratched into it with a nail! ETA Sputnik has better eyes than Swifty! Click this link and then magnify the picture. Used to be if you opened in a new window the picture would be full size. Now it does a pop up thing. Clicky Clicky! |

Stock and hand guard?
Is total silence back up and running and caught up? |

You know, if you bug the stock fairy enough, you might get one of his handguard caps too.

Seriously, you need to finish this ASAP. Like eFile incase of the 41P amendment. eFiles were getting approved in a month. Get with the program.

The stamp I received on the 23rd of this month was started 91 days prior, so they are starting to get pretty slow themselves. |

Swifty, NEVER computer and drink. You can wind up with a smoldering credit card and many boxes coming in the mail!
Riley that is a 607 Stock Fairy special! Lovingly made by hand from my mottled donor stock. HKILLER the stamp IS planned but to quote the Wicked Witch "These things must be done delicately... or you hurt the spell." (Money and time issues) 57Octane The Stock Fairy has already gone above and beyond and is STILL going to do the install for me. BEFORE I MILL IT OUT! I've got several other 80%ers to practice on before I do this one. Needs to get a good jig yet too. Time and money! Fred, BeeDubs777 is right. 80% lower. Not a firearm so the feds can't kick my door in for the missing 5-1/2" of barrel! I hear ya SandW but "time and money" Kalahnikid that WAS the plan but for speed and because of pure laziness I didn't feel like pulling the barrel and installing it on the slick upper and NOW I'm really liking the idea of a BFPU version! I WISH I had a BFPU slick sider! Thanks Trim Daddy! You guys are ALL partially responsible for my sickness! Stoner I GUESS I could do the stamp before I mill the lower. Worse case scenario is I'll have to have another 80% lower engraved with the same info, I guess that'd be a legit and legal thing to do. SHOULD be anyway! Anyone have any thoughts on THAT? HKILLER ya got a beat up slick side? Still balls to the wall today but I'll TRY to get some more pics later. Thanks to ALL of you guys for inspiration and support and instigation and temptation and infection and infestation! I hate you all! |

They came to me as if in a dream Tumerboy!
The Stock Fairy and the Anodizing Fairy! Kinda like the Great Pumpkin'! If you've lived a sordid life filled with fast women and slow cars, and they find you worthy, they will reach out to you and grace your safe with treasures beyond compare! That's MY LIE and I'm sticking with it! Both are members with real jobs but they have a passion for all things Retro. They just don't want to be swamped by the "fun work". |

Here's an updated picture! Stock parts back from anodizing and barrel put on the slick upper. The Stock Fairy has graciously offered to install the stock on my 80% lower and the upper and barrel need to take a trip to Doctor Thomas for a little nip and tuck and final FSB install. Probably going to let him torque the barrel as well as open the gas port. I know if he sends it back to me it will be right! So....... a few hundred dollars and then a few hundred more for a stoopit piece of paper........ http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e160/Cal30M1/20150815_121132.jpg View Quote I thought I made you a proper handguard cap...........I didn't?...........You need a proper handguard cap. Is there a source for that stock?
I want one for a regular build (non-retro) and all I have seen in the past were short production runs. Any clues how to get one without selling one of my half functioning kidneys? |

Any clues how to get one without selling one of my half functioning kidneys? View Quote It's a one off stock done by the Stock Fairy. I explain that a little further back in the thread. This was done by a brilliant forum member with a real job and a life beyond retro that occasionally feels sorry for some poor slub and reaches out to him. I was the poor slub of the month. |

DasRonin, CAl has a good time calling me the stock fairy, all in jest of course. I turn one out every once in a while, when I'm in the mood or bored with other projects. Doesn't happen near often enough to satisfy the demand from guys here in Retro though. There's just too many things that get in the way of my free time for me to spend much time machining retro parts................I'm also smitten with the Mk18/CQBR bug. And then there are stripers to catch. (I said stripers, not strippers, Cal) Motorcycling, hiking, 4x4's, etc etc.

There's STILL something fishy about your prey though! I find if you chase the older ones they are easier to catch! And for the record there is nothing "foo foo" about our friend Stoner. (He's not THAT kinda fairy!) He's a good dude and has a beautiful wife. (Who probably don't let him chase strippers.) |

A few years ago there was a big thread pertaining to the buttstock and locking lever showing a work in progress.
I mis-recalled that and had the impression that someone was producing them for regular sales. I have a stack of medical bills, and it will be a long time before I'd be able to buy one anyway. It is just one of my major want one someday. |

View Quote DasRonin, the last commercially available 607 stocks were those made by a fella by the name of Edwin, that had purchased the Total Silence line. Personal events brought his business to an untimely end. There's been a couple members here in the retro forum that have produced a few here and there over the years. I'm not sure how many My65pan produced, but it must have been a couple dozen. I've turned out a half dozen or so, and have partial parts for several more. Every once in a while I'll get the urge to finish one up, as time permits. I believe there is also a guy that sells them on Gb, using some AirSoft parts in addition to some parts that he makes, but I'm not sure what his user name is. |
