Has any one tried sanding or otherwise removing forge codes on later A1 uppers? Seems easier and cheaper for me then trying to find a non forge code upper.

Some here have done it. But with prices going the way they are going, it would be better if you removed the forge code from an NDS upper instead of modding an original.

I did one a long time ago. It always seemed to have a shadow there. You gotta really work on the texture to get rid of the "ghost".

I'm personally not a fan of altering original parts, especially for the purpose of mimicking another part, but different strokes I guess.

Bead blast should take care of that.

John Thomas did one for me for my ongoing XM177E1 build. I needed a beat to crap upper to match the stock that started the whole build so I didn't feel bad about it as it was rough to begin with.

Some alumablack touched it up pretty nicely and if anything now its perhaps a little to dark in that spot compared to the rest of the upper. I need to work on it some more I guess at some point.

I've done it to a couple of nds uppers and one colt.
Not to hard if your hand is steady. All were refinished with norrells
So I didn't have the ghost that others were talking about
With anodizing

Some early SP1 uppers had no forge codes.
