That's kinda cool and not a bad price even with a few condition issues. They look like former PD guns.

Had I seen them I would have been kind of tempted just as a set with one each for my boys one day. I'm glad I didn't see them

Should be fun to see the history behind them and get them cleaned up! Anybody here have consecutive serial numbered sp1's?

T.D.C.  ...Texas Department of Corrections, maybe?

Cool purchase.  Post photos when you've got them cleaned up!

I picked up two of these at my local gun store a few weeks ago. I paid $1400 and that in Connecticut were pre ban is like "Gold". They are from Texas Dept. of Corrections. They are well maintained, but the barrel have alot of copper in them. Use Sweet's 7.62 or Tiptons remarkable bore solvant. Patches will come out bright "Blue".
I am in the process of restoring my two and putting A1 triangular handguards and A1 shorter butt stocks on them. I plan to Duracoat "Colt Grey" on the metal and "Flat black" for the furniture.

The barrels are going to be the fun part lol I ahem extra furniture so I'm good there it's just how dirty they are. Cold blue works good as touch ups so I'll hit a couple nicks and dings to clean them up real nice and oil the crap out of them and let them soak it up! Probably dry after all these years!

The buffer tubes will not come off, even with a proper wrench. I had to heat around the back of the reciever with a propane torch. They both came loose, inside of the recievers filled up with oil. So the tubes were put on with a dab of grease on the threads and after 20 or more years it pretty much became Loctite.

Congrats !  That's a nice score.  And not too many parts Change/Swap to put them back to Original Condtion,

just two sets of Triangle Handguards, and one Type "E" Stock and one A1 Pistol Grip.  Not bad at all.

Please post some "Before & After" Pics.

Also, Where do you go shooting around here?

We fully expect to see some A2 handguards, buttstocks, grip and plastic mags for sale in the EE right quick.

Nice score. You will end up with two really nice retros with some history.

That's a sexy set of twins right there!

$2013.00 shipped each plus the back ground check is a sweet deal for consecutive numbers!

Ditch the ugly stuff and give them two slut puppies a bath! You don't know WHERE they've been!
