Bigger hammer is just a figure of speech, Dude!

Just kidding. How did it happen? I have heard that some teardrops just seem to have a weak spot.

What am I looking at? Seriously, I plead complete ignorance, but I'm interested.

Thank you.   See it now, the punch threw me.

THAT is why they are round now!

No repentance needed! It happened so many times it was redesigned!

I of course prefer teardrops but I always wondered WHY they were teardrop shaped instead of round to begin with!

Simpler and cheaper to produce a round one.

Anyone know what the thought process was?

I KNOW the forward assist was an Army requirement thrown in to piss the designers off but I'm just wondering about the shape.

Tough "break" Tumerboy!

Finish it off on a disc sander, touch up with cold blue and tell everyone you have a prototype extra small round F/A, sell on the EE for $75

Thanks for the offer Peter_Sam, but I was actually trying to remove the plunger/flappy bit to install in a big head assist I got for my 723.
I know it has happened before, and it is why they changed it, but I still feel like a moron.

Anyway, but head is installed now. I'll claim that as a victory.

Funny enough, the prototypes were round but the patent has the tear drop style. More surface area to hit maybe?

Well, at least it's still useable until you get another. Brownells had teardrop Bushmaster FA's for 5 bucks a couple days ago, although that probably wouldn't be very clone correct

HA!  Good call Augee, but the whole point was to swap it with the big head FA, which is now installed.  I'll save it though, might come in handy for something down the line.

Wasn't someone here doing a 'been to hell and back' GM build? Maybe they could use it.
