John Thomas is a huge asset to this retro community. He is always willing to help anyone with there project even if its not gonna make him a buck. He is always fast to respond to your emails, and his turnaround time on his work is simply unheard of. I have had him work on a few of my projects, and let me say i was blown away from the quality and attention to detail. Its like you are actually holding the real McCoy. His prices are so dam reasonable too, hell the man is worth more than he charges. While most of the people on here have know about John, i just want some of the newer people to know about him. Give him a chance at your work and you wont be disappointed. John i would like thank you for all your time and help you have done for ar15com and for all us retro nuts. Happy new year and god bless

I can't agree more. He cut down my AR-180B and I could not be happier with the outcome.

Top Notch.

John Thomas is one hell of a asset to the retro firearms community. I've only used his services a few times, but wouldn't hesitate to use him again or forward a recommendation his way.

Not many people do as much to spread the disease as John does .... but at least when he does it, you know you have the pieces coming together right!

Thank you very much.  That is too kind, and I do appreciate it.  Thanks to you guys, though.  I appreciate you helping me keep the lights on (seriously).  The retro forum members here are always great to work with.

Happy New Year!

Out of all my rifles, my A1 that John put together for me is my favorite to shoot- looks great, and dead nuts accurate.  Thanks, John!

There's an old saying that you can have it fast, you can have it value priced, and you can have quality, but you only get to pick two at a time.

John Thomas is the exception to that rule. You can have it all with JT.

Who else is really good is another John, John Brace.  He is a talented smith and machinist with a CNC machine so he is able to do things that Thomas can't or won't do!  He is also even cheaper than Thomas, however, he does have a very slow turn around time.

Still, John and John are my two go to gunsmiths!

That comes with also having a full time machinist job and raising a family...

We are definitely lucky to have them both. I'm hoping to have Braceman do some engraving for me sometime in the next year...

Both John's have patience and talent. Both have dealt with me with extreme grace despite my tendency to act like a petulant child when I want something so yes Braceman and JT are true heroes!

I think JT and Braceman talents complement each other, they both do their own thing and most importantly there isn't competition between them to land our business.

I just want to thank John Thomas for assembling my A1 upper.  His work is very professional and he takes care of his customers- even first time customers like me.

I'm pretty new to this forum and ARs in general and decided to buy an A1 kit as I grew up watching the Viet Nam war unfold on the nightly news and because older members of my family spent some time there in the late 1960s.  I bought a kit and from the comments and photos of other forum members I contacted John to assemble the upper.  I'm not that knowledgeable of ARs, other guns yes, ARs, no, and as the upper requires specific tools I wanted it assembled correctly and professionally.  I couldn't be happier with John's work.  In addition, he assembled my upper, test fired and sighted it in and sent it out on the same day he received it.   I have to credit him for test firing and sighting it in when the temperature at his place was about 5 degrees!  He could certainly have waited as I wasn't in a hurry, but he went the extra frozen mile.

Just an update to the work John Thomas did for me.  I finally had a chance today to shoot the upper John assembled for me a few weeks ago.  The upper functioned perfectly, and John's sighting in was dead on!!

Sent him an email last night and he responded back (I was curious about the moderators, so I asked when he would have them). I swear the response was faster than I've ever seen ( 1 hour, who answers work emails at 10 pm.).   Will be sending work his way as funds allow..
