I actually was able to buy one of  the prototype CH uppers.  Some guy wanted to know what it was worth and posted in the wrong place some where on ar15.com.  I was able to make a deal before the thread was locked.

Here is the link to the arfcom thread

Thank you HHollow, that one is interesting.

Any idea of what that bolt was for,it as a section in front of the locking lugs...

I will find out what the dal is with that bolt.  The carrier looks odd as well.

The best part of having the prototype CH is that it can be made to work from either side.

The added section front of the bolt head doesn't seem to be a headspace gauge...

The carrier seems to be the transitional model, the bolt head as no extractor.

The carrier bolt  on the picture was used for gas pressure tests

But the bolt head front section as a larger diameter then the diameter on a case, did it used a diferent barrel and chamber?

As the bolt head as a section in front of the locking lugs, could it strip a case out of a magazine?

As it cant use a case to be fired, does it use some apparatus connected to the barrel muzzle in order to vent in pressurized gas to operate the bolt gas system, how did it worked?
