Been a long journey since my 601 upper came to me in this form:

Upper receiver back from Victor @ USAnodizing.

Flawless!
Test fit, to NDS-601 before lower engraving. Snug as a bug!

Couldn't wait to get the upper built.

Not blood, it's that red shooting grease, I swear......      ^
Barrel torqued, duckbill I got from member blucar in pay it forward thread, early bend gas tube re-installed, what a PIA to get it in-n-out! Tape prepped for scratch-less hand-guard install.

Which reminds me. Here's the furniture while in progress. Painted to imitate bakelight material.

Before applying some 601 green paint to match the original bakelight skinny grip I got from member aeyoung.

Fast forward teaser pic.

Ident engraved lower returned!

FINISHED RIFLE.

Much more pics and infocoming this evening.

Fantastic job! That was my original concept for my 605 (which is why it has a pinned 601 FH ) But I was going to do a BTDT look, and Heatnbeat just did too nice a job on it - so I left it alone. Incredible job on the paint brother!

Just received that lightweight upper from DeanD last Friday. It is indeed a 601 square forge upper. The ejection spring leg is utilizing the hole on this one though. And the upper is in slightly better condition being basically NIB as described. So this is two uppers that have come to me in the black. Can't wait to see what's underneath this one!

Cheers!
