I've got to ask.  How much did you pay?

Unfortunatly it has been modified according to Italian gun laws.
It has a milled bolt carrier, a hammer which has been cut, and a pin over safety lever has been drilled and welded.
We must be happy with what we can get here ...

I'd say you did very well.

ETA - anyway you can post a picture of the otherside of the upper receiver, and besides the numbers is there any other markings on the barrel?

Wowowow! 1200€!

Dang governments ruining our historical relics and past achievements in the name of societal safety. No no, cant trust free individuals with these devices, we'd go apesh*t. But at least we still have some form of watered down token liberty here, right...RIGHT??? Siggghh.

Beautiful rifle by the way.

Thanks for confirming that.

We have a good quantity of unfired M16A1 in Italy.
As I said before, they are modified to shoot semi auto mode only for civilians.
Full auto guns are reserved to Army and Police. A civilian would be arrested if caught with a full auto gun.

Here are the requested pictures.

Barrel brings "C MP CHROME BORE" marking. Numbers are ".223" caliber which has been stamped by Italian Fire Arms Proof Bank.

Thank you for the pictures, that rifle was made in the time period where the A1 birdcage FH would of been used, but the 3 prong is fine as some preferred the 3 prong over the A1 and swapped them out. I'd leave it exactly as is because it's probably been that way for many years and has history with the rifle.

That's a real deal M16 and you should leave it as you found it. 3-prong is perfect.

What is the connection between the Malaysian rifles and Italia? Just surplus dealers marketing them in Italy, or is there some historic connection?

That is one fine looking rifle!

Thank you for the info.
I have another M16 which is exactly the same but with A1 birdcage.
That's why I thought dealer might have replaced the original birdcage with the 3-prong.
When I am back home I will check serial number.

Thanks.
No connection at all between two countries, just international firearms trading.

Your other M16 is roughly 67,000 rifles newer than this one, the rifle is perfect as it sits.

A large stock of US M16A1 are sold in Germany as permanently deactivated firearms ... sad but true, they are just  toys for collectors.
