Just noticed the first session of the Julia Auction has been posted and there are some nice detailed photos of the AR-10, lot 1072. Some other "ho-hum" guns like a Stoner 63 and a 1904 Maxim for the REALLY retro guys, too.  It will be interesting to see what the AR-10 sells for as I think it's seriously underestimated in the catalog.

Maybe they downgraded the auction estimate for the AR10 because the magazine is not original.

Well, there you go.  The $10K or $20K you save because of that funky mag can be applied to the H&R T48.  I've always wanted one of those.

Standard M16s are bringing $25k, I recall hearing Reed Knighr haas turned down stupid money for Hollywood guns, the estimates are at best naive. Using car autions as a barometer this rifle could easily bring 40, 50 even six figures, depends on how bad he wants it back since his resources are pretty much unlimited.

Well, to really gage how much Reed Knight loves his AR10's look at how he carries his when Jerry Miculek is giving the last portion of his interview with Reed on Youtube.................seems Reed was done and he carted that baby off............................I dont blame him.

BTW, how much of a bad ass was Brig Gen Theo Metaxis?  Damn, got captured by German troops under heavy fire and winter weather................they strip him of his winter wear and he pulls a concealed 45 from under his clothes and kills 3 and captures 2.............................Only a bad ass goes against 5 to 1 odds..........................God Love Him!  Silver Star doesnt seem quite enough.

He also had a hell of a gun collection...................

+ The AR10 listed is not the one I remember.  If it did come from Dolph Goldsmiths liquidation of the Armalite Collection back in 1986-7.  Maybe someone with contact with Dolf can check on it.  It does look primo, but I dont think CRK Jr would need it since he as the protos, the first production and the last production models.  It is one of the Last Hollywood models made and looks complete...........................................furniture does look too good to be true, but that is how it goes.

That Stoner does look sweet, but I am more tempted by the CIA 8mm Bren Gun............................Those all came into Interarmco without serial numbers....................IRS ATTU required Interarmco to mark the receivers with serial numbers.  The story was that etched them in the warehouse with numbers from the barrels.  Very few made it into the USA into civilian hands through a few of the old hand dealers.

We used to shoot a friend's Bren that went out the back door of Interarms.............it never got a serial number etched on it.  We used to shoot out at a farm near Bowie, MD until they built up the area.  The gun was later registered during the Amnesty and got a "rusty nail" IRS number applied to it, but because of that fact, it was resold in the 1990's as a "Bay of Pigs" bring back Bren  and has traded hands with even bigger stories behind it for the past 20 years...............................the only great thing about shooting it back in the day was 8mm canadian ammo was less than .10 cents a round and we shot that more than my friend's FN Uzi (serial number G199) which was bought through the mail in 1964 for $100  and probably was a CIA issue gun, since it came from a Army vet at Ft Bragg.  He still laments that he did not have enough money to but the Swedish K ($95) and Madsen ($50) the seller had...................all were advertised in the old Shotgun News under spare magazines for sale.......................................Never know until you ask...............................

That FN Uzi was also amnesty registered, and BATF came out to my friend's house to look at the piece since there was a problem with the serial number.   Dont know what....................they looked at it and since the serial number was behind the front sight, they broked out the vibramatic pen to mark it.................he showed them the serial number and they signed off on the form and his Dad got his approved forms within the week.  He still has that hummer but never fires it in Maryland anymore.  He doesnt even let people know he has the mags for it.

Good to see these guns recirculating, but also sad to know most wont get fired or enjoyed on the range.  The storied behind them are also lost to the wind, which is a shame.
