Never seen a BFA like the one in the 4th to last picture before, I have the older style that is square with the ring and plunger. Mine is red, Ive seen them in blue, and also yellow as well I believe....it's amazing how far they've come, now the're shooting simunition at each other.

This thread should be a sticky! I encourage others that have this type of material to share it here for future reference. This is feeding RBRD at it's best.

That model 6001 carbine is great! Dimpled take down and (mil-spec )pivot pin, anodized stock and ribbed slip ring. Doesn't look to have a hole for the auto sear pin. Imagine finding an original, early Colt Mil-spec semi auto lower like that today.

Edit, also it's a full curve mag from the looks of it. I wonder if it has a chrome BCG?

Interesting, the M16A2 model 711/715 pictured appears to be a 603 with A2 furniture.

Am i the only one curious about the funny lookin xm148?

It's a CGL-5. It's what Colt came up with when the army nixed the 148 and started shopping around for a replacement.

I have no idea why they would refer to it was the XM148 though.

I think those last scans for the GGL were the ones that were printed in error.  They came out, as has been said, just after the Army crapped out on the XM148 - after 50,000+ were made, bought and paid for...............  There is a large format AR15 system sales brochure from 1967-8 that has all of the AR15 weapons listed and the CGL-5 is listed as the CGL 5, but the tech specs are from the XM148.............I bought some old Colt sales brochures from a Ruger designer, who worked on the Colt AR15 system.  I still wish I had the full AR15 wall chart.  Those were printed until 1972, when they changed it over to have both the XM177E2 carbine and the newer 14.5 inch carbines on the same poster.

Thanks for posting these.

Gonna build a 711, but these photos just stoked up the fire on the front burner, haha.
