First off Hello Retro-Land
I cant remember if I have posted here before, but I have in the General and hometown forums. I thought I would share my newest project, a easy 605 .22 upper that I cooked up from my growing pile of retro parts. I had bought a CMMG 22 bolt at a show afew years ago and never really used it because the spring broke. So one night I get the bright idea after looking and reading about 605's that a .22 cal 605 is perfect because there is no gas system. Here is what it took and yes, it would have probably been cheaper to just buy a built 22 upper.......but that's not retro. I finished and test fired this the other day and it ate 30 rounds of crap Remington led tip .22 with out a problem. I just ordered a A1 parts kit from royal tiger, and a Brick 177 mod on gunbroker....there goes the bank account
tools needed for this "project"
1 armorers wrench to tighten the barrel nut
1 set of vice blocks
1 small punch for the gas tube roll pin
1 flat head screw driver for the rear sight
parts list(I had some of this already)
Taccom 16in M4.22 cal barrel(comes with the collar) $168?
A1 upper(scored on the EE at some point)
CMMG bolt (bought at fun show years ago)
armalight clamp on FSB( bought it somewhere)
3 prong flash hider
1 carbine length gas tube, triangle handguards and other stuff
and here she is (on right) I already had the double star lower(I wanna get a NDS) and the pistol grip and stock are from gun broker. please disregard the far left two "special ed" rifles
here is a shot from my first retro build where some of the spare parts came from
