What about a thread to post links to downloads. For example instructional info.
Or downloads for TMs or maintenance manuals or similar?

Just putting it out there.????

I Know a lot of info is right there in the  tacked threads.
But I've been noticing a lot of great info being posted.
(LINKS)  in the pay it forward lately. Don't get me wrong I think
this stuff is invaluable and great pay it forward stuff But I think also if this info had a specific
local that future form members could go to retrieve it, it would be awesome.
I just think the links in the pay it forward might be lost for many future members.

Just trying to think ahead.

I have been saying for years that I would like to see a 'Link to common threads - look here first' thread at the top, as other forums have, but understand that 99% of the time new members come here and hang out for months, asking questions without ever looking at the few pinned threads at the top of the page. We don't mind answering questions, but if I had a dollar for every time I have told someone to check out Ekie's guides at the top of the page, well, I could buy that boat I've always wanted. Retroblackrifle.com is another great resource that people seem to rarely use. It use to have a retro buy and sell forum (something that has been mentioned here dozens of times) but it didn't get enough traffic, so Tex shut it down rather than have to monitor it. There is a shit ton of info in the archives as well if people took the time to look.

I agree, a tacked thread with links to online literature like the TM's from the PIF thread and SCRIBD: The Black Rifle Vols 1 and 2 and other invaluable online resources like retroblackrifle.com would be an asset in the Retro Forum.

FWIW, Ekie's Colt's rifle and carbine guides are each tacked 2x at the top - if they weren't duplicated, that would free up space for something like this - a 'Guide to Essential Retro Threads' such as Doc's great GP sling guide. Any mods listening?

I'd like to at least see the TM links stickied!

Sorry about the RBR for-sale forums going away, but the amount per month it was costing (not to mention the time required for upkeep) just wasn't worth it.
I was able to move the RBR website, without the forums, to another server that costs a LOT less to keep.
My first priority was preserving retroblackrifle.com.

Well if we have to get rid of an old tacked thread to get a new one, the "RETRO PARTS SUPPLIER" one has a lot of outdated info and dead links in it. I think we need to preserve (or consolidate) the historical research info threads, even if the new guys never read it first....OR...toggle those threads to keep them from being archived and have one locked thread that directly links to them.
