After trying to sell my 601 with the furniture I am glad now no one bought it.
Something about that furniture that just makes your rifle pop.

Id saw this set also.. It is real nice.

The condition of some of Dean's green furniture is knock-out. Guess that stuff is out there----gives me hope for finding a BFPU right side HG.

Almost appears like they made more green furniture than they made green furniture equiped 601 rifles in reality and it didn't get destroyed.  Really surprised that we don't see more black over green over brown furniture.  Thinking they actually should be more valuable based on what I see available anyway.

Kinda like 427 big block 435 HP 1967 Corvettes.  More titled and reside in USA today than Chevrolet ever produced on paper?  425 HP 396 CI Vettes haven't been cloned nearly as much and easily more rare and easier to do or used to be when the 396 pieces were everywhere.  Granted few 396 Chevy will run with a 427 or even a good 400 CI small block for that matter making them less desireable in bigger picture but still more rare IMO.

Maybe we do see more...but don't know it!  Fact is, unless you're talking about a Type A stock, it's not easy to quickly identify black-over-brown furniture--if in good condition--as being anything out of the ordinary.  I could dump mine in a pile of later furniture and you'd have to look pretty close to know which came off the 601.
I have a theory that there are a number of shooters out there with very valuable handguards and with no sense of what they are.  (I am always keeping my eyes open for those guys!)
