He looks farbylicious and much too clean AND he's wearing targets on his sleeves! The first one is from http://www.history.army.mil/books/Vietnam/riverine/images-full/f1.jpg Second Farby Fellow is from http://students.cis.uab.edu/tyallen/VN.jpg Those are just the picture links. I saw another that was CLEARLY Farb (two WAY overweight PFC's) but I don't remember if it was from the same sight as the second pic. |

That last pic is a great illustration of how canteen covers were utilized to carry magazines. Joescuba - you rode a motorcycle out of an airplane with a parachute on? That is hard core LOL. Seriously though, what kind of bike? Kaw? |

Seriously though, what kind of bike? Kaw? I think that one was a KZ250. I also had a custom made tactical mountain bike in olive drab paint and a very cool Ducati street bike. The container in the background is full of all my kit/weapons, parachutes, scuba gear, etc. I had one small container for the short visits and a semi truck size container for the longer stay. They contained/ had everything a growing boy needed for a paid government adventure vacation. Ah the Reagan years/era! Regards Joescuba. Ex Umbra |

It was a lot of fun for us. We did this about 1 or 2 times a month. The mission was they would drop in at night and capture us. We got very good at it and about 1/2 the time we captured them. I dug out one of the pictures that was taken at the end of one of the training sessions. YEA! It was staged for the picture. The M-16's were brand new out of the crate when we got them. We only shot blanks out of them. I am thinking this may have been in late 1966. Notice the 100 mile hour tape on the sling buckles. I was part of an aerial delivery/mobility in vietnam. 67-68. We operated forward land strips and did some "kicker work" at times. I will dig out some pictures and post them later. http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m483/captron73/IMG_0074.jpg Interesting how they all (well not all, but a lot of them) have tape or something wrapped around the front of the handguard. Was that to avoid the rattle from the sling loop by keeping is secure? It also looks like they have para cord or string attached to that part. Possibly to the sling also. Huh. Nice pic. |

Are there any laws against you selling the uppers? You could take a big chunk out of your Spike's bill and make alot of people happy at the same time.
|
|
|
Yeah there are a few federal laws that prohibit the sale of any of these parts. The rifls still belong to the military.

LOL.. for sure.. and although those are a beautiful sight.. and yes Im just as jealous as everyone else that they are not legal to own... (looks away from soapbox), but I do think they are looking a little, uh, rough to have been agency rifles? Did you just get them from the mil or something? |

To me the most hilarious part of this government program is most departments replace the entire upper and change the stock out.
They get a free M16A1, buy a new stock and new upper. Since there's no auto-sear it's a semi-auto when they're done. They're saving $120 for a lower and $70 for an LPK over buying a whole gun and can't even offset the costs of upgrading by selling the unwanted parts. Insanity. |

I argued the point of replacing everything expcept the lower. You can imagine how that went. To my understanding Agencies cannot sell the parts. |
