Long time lurker who got inspired by this thread to spend some money. This is my first AR15 build ever, still in progress (Does anyone ever actually finish a build?). The inspiration for this one has been the Westcoast (?) EOD's version of the Mk18 Mod 0. When money allows I want to build a Block II M4 upper for this thing, as well. Also waiting on the GaF to better mount that saddle, as it's currently just a press fit over some foam packaging and 100MPH tape.

Was just an fyi in case he went to a range like that and ran into a gun store commando. Thanks for the heads up, guys. I'll get it off of there for now, but the plan was to use Vltor's longer A5 buffer tube (It's like 3/4" longer, or something) to bump me just over the 26" mark from nose to tail. As it stands, though, even without barrel... probably should have it on there. I'll edit and get another pic up without it. |

Once you get your barrel before adding the muzzle device measure the oal from the end of the threads to the end of the buffer tube. If it's over 26in pit that vfg on it. I printed out the atf letter to Franklin armory and keep it in my range bag just in case.

Hi Brutus,
I was just wondering, how long is your buffer tube? As I was finishing my AR15 pistol build, I measured my weapon. Using a carbine buffer tube it measures 25-1/4", with a 10.5" barrel. You might measure your AR. If it's longer than 26", it's not a pistol ! (That would be a firearm) ! Just wondering. BTW, nice rig! |

An AR Pistol that is longer than 26 inches may be reclassified as a "firearm" by the owner. This reclassification is not automatic. |

View Quote Thanks Parkerdude , I like the way it turned out, I wasnt sure I was going to like it since it is my first Pistol build. The RE is right about 7 inches long from the back of the receiver. I chose this pistol RE so the SIG TAC Brace would be rock solid. This Pistol RE has a relatively huge diameter ( about 1.250") and the Brace was a bitch to get on but it aint going anywhere ( I doubt I could get it off intact at this point). The weapon's overall length is over 26" I cant remember exactly how long. It has about a 1.00 inch deep hollow at the end where I just gave up pushing and called it good, but that turns out to be very "energy absorbing". I know its technically not a pistol anymore... but until I put a VFG on it ( which i wont) I can still call it one. |

They said wait because they were about to release a kit that locks in the cheek weld to their buffer tube cover or QD one The fit is perfectly snug and I would definitely recommend it I'll upload some photos when I get home tonight. |

DD 11.5" You sir just sold me on a rail. I have a 11.5 spikes that I'm just not happy with using the most hand guard. I'm thinking that rail plus a Griffin armament flashcomp would be winning |

That looks great. Like the paracord grips.

Meh, I could also do without, but I tend to like unmarked lowers so just about anything is too much in my book. Other than the markings that lower has an interesting cut to it.

The wedges seem to be "keyed" for use on their buffer tube cover deal If your pistol tube was the same diameter as a standard buffer tube, you could probably order the kit and one of the buffer tube covers, but then I don't know how it would stay oriented straight up |

See "Hard Core 15 300BK Pistol build." above. Don't put on the attachments. Put it over the foam or rubber tube cover and attach the holes on both sides underneath with a good black twist tie's (twist, not pull). Stays in place and easy to remove if needed. Looks clean if you tuck the twist tie ends under. They come in multiple colors and in rubber coated and regular. Regular holds paint well.
