I really like how simple and clean it appears. Lines are smooth, the upper with no deflector/forward assist/ejection port door, smooth pistol receiver extension, no rails on the handguard, and even on the magazine -- an abstract work of art! |

Thanks a lot. I wanted to keep it as clean as possible. I cannot describe to you how much fun it is to shoot also. The lower that's on there is actually for my 300BLK pistol I just havent finished the lower for this 556 and it will probably have a black pistol grip. |

What kind of optic is that? I have been looking at a Primary arms Micro and also a Vortex SPARC. Sun Optics also has a micro red dot, but I've heard that they're worse than Barska.

What is the rail, a Seekins BAR? I'm also curious as to which flash hider you're using. I installed the KX3 on mine, but it's heavy and I came across a very promising forward flash hider a day or 2 ago (can't remember the name). I don't know if I'll stick with the pig just yet,. |

Start of my build.
Gonna be using a Hydra lower and decided to drop in the spare Spikes Tactical standard parts kit I had laying around. Got a few more parts coming in over the next few weeks so I'm hoping that it starts to take life here soon... |

I think that will finish off my build nicely! Your PSA Lower was just a normal stripped lower from them? I've got one too, and an 80% (not milled yet) and I'm chomping at the bit to finish this off so I might just use the PSA lower instead of the 80% |

Don't have it yet. I'm doing it slowly so my wife doesn't kill me. Hell the upper alone is like $550 from midwayusa.com. Thats just the receiver and hand guard. The changeable mag well is $250 each, then barrel and bolts. Most people won't see the benefit of this, but I feel like I had to sell a kidney to get my EOTech and magnifier. So, I would like to run a one optic set up. Plus it's different and kinda bad ass...

I like the idea of building different uppers around a stock forged lower - you can go .300 Blackout, 6.8 SPC or 5.56. I like that idea. If this special Lower/Upper combo opens up the door to .308, 6.5, .458 and more, I can see the utility. If not, get a few Vortex SPARCs and change out uppers!! More utility, and you're always just a lower away from another gun! |

When I built my pistol some years ago you could not have a carbine buffer tube. The thinking is you could readily install a butt stock thus making a SBR Kevin62
|
|
|
The upper uses any standard barrel/ gas tube or they have a piston set up as well. They do have a .308 and 458 set up using the same upper. There is I think a possible 40+ conversions for the rifle. And I do understand the multi rifle/ upper reasons, I have that I just wanted something different...

Some people used carbine tubes during the 90's and such I believe. |
