I assembled another military style pistol today. This one was inspired by the XM177 / CAR-15 Commando, but modernized with a better trigger, KAC RIS and a Griffin Armament Linear Compensator/suppressor mount that very loosely resembles the XM177’s crazy-long flash suppressor.
I swapped the SBA3 brace from my Mk18 Mod 0ish pistol with an SBA4. The SBA4 more closely mimics the footprint of the SOPMOD stock for the Mk18/CQBR (last/bottom pic) and the SBA3 is closer to the footprint of a CAR-15 stock for my Commando inspired build. They both have Griffin Armament suppressor mounts and share a Griffin RECCE-5 5.56 can. All I need is a legit A1 grip, then I’ll call it done. The FDE EXPS3-0 I used to have on the 11.5 was sacrificed to my Colt Block II clone lol So it needs a replacement, likely an MRO or a T-1 / T-2 if I can find a killer deal on one. Swapped the RIS on my 5.56 M4 Commando style pistol (below right) with a basic Colt carbine handguard and shot it today along with my M4-22 (below left).
It’s even lighter now - I love this setup! Attached File Attached File |

They are neat and small though if you can. Perfect for compactness. |

View Quote My pistols have two coupled PMAG's and usually a few accessories mounted and I have had previous hand injuries that make the small type grips difficult. I'd love the Reptilia too if I could manipulate the weapon comfortably. I shouldn't have inferred I hate them when in actuality I simply cannot utilize their benefits. They are both great at minimizing the guns footprint while offering just enough purchase. My pistols just weigh to much for me to comfortably use. I understand. With my MS, the whole pistol brace thing has been a real boon. Not sure how well I can shoot them if this ATF BS continues.

The eye relief is great. Its a great optic. I ended up stacking mounts so I didnt have to use the canted mounts.
