Starting to do my homework on a 300 blk build.  Noticed that a lot of the builds on here were in the SBR realm and a few with 16' barrels.  Are the shorter barrels better the 300, have there been any cycling issues with the 16'?  Looking at Aero Precision or Mega for the receiver set, thoughts?

Thanks

The 300 BLK round is pretty much optimized for a short barrel. Do a Google search on the subject. There is info all over the place.

Billet lower with LWRC UCIW stock will replace the SB15 and PSA lower once I get NFAids.
AAC 762-SDN-6 and something yet undecided 51T muzzle device will replace the KAK Slimline.

My 8" .300blk.  Decided to put it on a bit of a diet and get some handguards that don't hold heat...
I'll be making a dissipator-ish front sight barrel mount, so ignore the lack of front sight.

Has an ACR-ish look/feel to it now with the MOE-SL handguards.

Looks great! Wish the SL handgaurds would drop in midlength for my kino, but I like what you've done here. Never really thought an 8" 300BLK "needed" the big expensive berailed free float tube. Looking forward to seeing how the front sight mounts.

Yeah, I had the YHM on there, covering a good portion of the can, but it got hot and weighed a good chunk.
I took a cheap upper-height aluminum gas block and carved it up on the mill to give me one rail slot in front of the handguard cap.  The handguards can still be removed.
It clears the can and mount without modifying the handguards.  I've got a couple front sights I could tweak and throw on there, but I'll probably pick up a Spikes low profile  billet sight since it's pretty much perfect for this application.

I've got a set of original MOE handguards laying around too, but they left a gap at the rear of the can.
We'll see if I can get these melty with heat from the can, I don't do mag dumps on the .300, I would go broke, but I do use it occasionally for 2/3gun matches.  Actually won my last one with this gun.

On a related note, the Troy VTAC slotted rail sections have lugs that are identical width to M-LOK dimensions.
The short rails will pop right in if you span the gap between them, but the longer 4" sections need the lugs shortened front-to-back.
I had some leftover VTAC rails and I tweaked a 4" section and bolted it to the left side of the MOE-SL for a light mount and I can use the integral QD socket for my forward sling mount

16" Noveske 1/7 barrel
Centurion C4 10"
Quentin Defense lower with TacCon 3MR trigger
B5 SOPMOD
IWC QD endplate

I'm toying with the idea of putting a 1-4 on this gun.

My 10.2" Mega SBR, hopefully my Saker 7.62 will be here any day now.  I've though about swapping the upper for a Mega MKM and having the barrel cut to 9", maybe I will get to that one day.

You have good taste polizei1.

I'm trying not to want a SRS but it's entirely difficult.

Thanks! It's my first AR, so I wanted to build it "right" with what I view as quality parts. I'm just hating the wait for my Saker...it's quite annoying, to say the least! Haha

As for the SRS, I think it's a great optic, it's a bit heavier than an Aimpoint Micro, but I like the FOV, we'll see over time if it stays. My goal was to have a very simple, yet effective system.

That rifle looks great BTW!

Yankee Hill 308 Titanium on a quick detach mount.

The barrel length is approximately 7.7 and the mount must be installed prior to the rail going over it.

I did a little write up here.

Hope this helps good Sir

every time I see someone post 26 inches I get worried.

Why does it matter if it's 26 if it's a pistol with no VFG/AFG.

7/10

-1 for wearing what appear to be matching dress socks
-1 for not having exposed toes with gnarly toenails, lint between them, and hammer toe / bunions visible
-1 for not having dirty laundry, dog toys, ash trays, empty beer cases, or other clutter on the floor in picture.
