I am a little confused on what stocks to use. im looking at a 18" barrel and a adjustable stock. Now the first pages says i cant use a ar15 carbine buffer, so would i just get a rifle lenfth buffer? or should i get a ar10 buffer?

better yet, should i just get this? 308 buffer kit

View Quote That will work fine for a carbine stock setup, my only suggestion would be an adjustable gas block so that you can optimize the dwell time. |

Starting to look like a rifle. I can't decide if I want the top spr rail to tie the handguard and upper. It changes my scope selection I think. Either Mk6 with spr rail, or NF without the rail. NF setup will probably be a few hundred cheaper. http://i.imgur.com/UmajlKt.jpg View Quote NICE RIFLE! I too am deciding on the SPR top rail. But I have the delta fore arm and only have one option, I really want the one that has room for the front sight rail. For the delta, it goes almost all the way and you have to remove the sight rail and mount on the spr rail. |

I have a few questions before I order the last parts for my build.
The questions are in the red font. What I have: Mega MKM Rifle length receiver set JP 20" Barrel with adjustable gas block JP Low Mass bolt carrier and bolt JP Silent Capture Spring and buffer system What I intend to acquire: Larue extension tube with castle nut & latch plate (I need the AR15 extension with a JP buffer and spring system, correct? According to JP, their system is designed for a 7" tube.) Larue APEG grip (Do I need the AR15 or the AR10 version?) JP lower parts kit minus trigger assembly (Does this have all the parts necessary to finish the lower? Source is Rainier Arms.) Geissele SSA trigger group Magpul ACS Stock Larue Optic Mount (Do I need a mount with inclination built in to shoot to 1000 yards?) Vortex Scope (I'm looking at the 4-16 and 6-24, but I'm still undecided.) Any help is much appreciated. |

|
LaRue Grip: you need the ar15 version, the ar10 version is to big as MaTen lowers were designed to use ar15 style grips to eliminate the confusion, or ugly gap spacers and wedges and crap.
I don't know anything on the JP buffer kit. Sorry. Lower parts kit: if you have the ambi lower, all you need is a trigger, mag catch and button, and buffer detent and spring. On the scope mount, it could help to have the moa cant, but not really necessary. Others will be able to help you where I can't. |

What receiver block are you guys using to clamp the upper down so you can tighten the barrel nut to the receiver? I'm looking at the DPMS upper receiver block.
|

I used the one from armalite. You can use it for AR10s and 15s. But you gotta dremel about 1/8" of the bottom piece for it to fit snug.

View Quote I used the DPMS Panther block on my Mega. It worked well but ( and this is good ) fits REALLLLY tight. You put the upper on it just like a receiver....front pin first then rock the upper down to the rear pin. Make sure you have your vise really firmly clamped on the block. |

Actually, the heavier bullets with higher BC's fly flatter than the lighter ones once you get out to the point where you use that 20MOA cant. Choosing whether or not to buy a mount with forward can't built in largely depends on your scope's internal travel and the shooters intended use. |

hey guys working on a ma-ten build myself and was curious if you guys know what handguards fit over the JP .936 adjustable block? I haven't had to deal with fitting in side of the rail much in the past and figured someone might have a list.
