I recently changed out my build and went with a Noveske 21" barrel rather than the Mega. I found the barrel locally from the EE, paid a fair price. The main reason i went with the Noveske/AR10 BCG was that i have concerns with my 762 Industries BCG. I have yet to shoot the new setup, but i have a question. The gas block is out past the rail. I know i see it often in pictures here, but i have never had a rifle with the block unprotected. Is this an issue? https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Yp4ZeCC14a8/UmAotJ9Bn0I/AAAAAAAABlk/Gq_YJi3cbXc/s800/20131017_140752.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1zjTivUm95U/UmAotSN0uCI/AAAAAAAABlo/BPIW6jIy_64/s800/20131017_140857.jpg I have another upper, no rail yet, that i plan on building out with the mega barrel. But, i am thinking i might buy an extended rail and put the noveske barrel on that so the gas block is covered. What are your thoughts, esteemed members of arfcom. View Quote I wouldn't worry about it. It would take a lot of torque to move the gas block. Bumping it isn't enough. I have a clamp on Syrac gas block thats exposed. No issues. |

Can some one tell me where I can find an upper/lower combo in stock?
I've been looking the past few weeks and can't find anything. |

Someone said earlier that after back ordering, they got their shipping notification after 10 days. I don't know if your wait time will be longer or shorter, but it is an option. |

Internal diameter is 1.850" but there are some "ribs" inside that run the length that make it about 1.750". If you're looking to put a can inside, a YHM phantom 7.62 should fit.

Are the si defense nib bolts a good option for .308 and are they dpms compatible?

Anyone know if this thing is any good?
buffer by Armed Ferret, on Flickr Installed: bufferinstalled by Armed Ferret, on Flickr Best part? It was gratis. Hooked a bud up with some stuff from AFG and he kindly repaid the favor with this, after moving to a fixed stock on his AR-308.... Rifle's still far from done. Needs barrel, gas block/tube, BCG, muzzle brake/can mount, fire control stuff, magazine release, and scope. |

Has anyone tried a new predatobr barrel in a MA receiver to see if the Larue barrel nut fits and gas tube position is right?

Works just fine, but you need to swap barrel nuts.

Armed ferret-
It doesn't look like you got any feedback from here, but in general the hydraulic buffers are not well thought of. You might like it, but keep an eye on it and watch for leaks. You are replacing a very robust part (buffer and spring) with one that is not very robust, but may give you a nice result while it lasts. |

I'm interested, I looked closely at the endine buffers and saw them as rife with trouble, but if the JP is better I'll consider it. How many rounds do you have through it? Suppressed? If so, and issues with function? Do you notice much change in recoil? Thanks Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
|
I've got 3-400 rounds through it, all open, still have my paperwork in to the ATF.
With being able to change my springs, it should be pretty simple to tune the function. Honestly, it recoils like a bolt gun, very sharp and quick, but not harsh. I have no issues with function. I also have their low mass carrier in the gun. I wanted as little reciprocating mass as possible. Altogether, I love the way the gun works with those parts. |

Hey guys,
I'm new to the 308 AR platform and the Maten. I already have the MaTen extended rifle keymod set. I'm on the hunt for a barrel and BCG now. What do you guys recommend for brand and length? Are the Mega 18" barrels any good? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! |
|
I recently bought the 18" MEGA 308 barrel, I haven't built it yet, but from reading online and talking to other people, it has gotten pretty good reviews.
It will shoot the Nato round and 308 |

View Quote After studying all the different offerings with value comparisons, I ended up buying a black hole weaponry barrel for my build. I looked at Mega as well, but I remember not liking something or another about it. BHW's lead time was about 6 weeks for my order. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Still need glass... I also bought a Shadow Ops NiB BCG. Was the best deal. |
|
Thanks for the info and advice so far! I will be taking a look at the above items and do some research.
|
|
Also check out the JP Enhanced BCG's. They are more expensive but top quality from a KNOWN great company. After buying a sketchy NiB BCG for my MA-10, I will only do business with established companies known for great quality.
If those are too expensive for you, I'd go with a standard phosphate carrier from DPMS or Fulton Armory and the JP Enhanced bolt. |
|
Great to hear about the JP BCG, thats what I was leaning towards. I know it's pricey but I rather buy everything once then have to change it out down the road. I already know it's going to be an expensive build but I can't wait!
