http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Coldphyr/IMAG0139.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Coldphyr/IMAG0141.jpg PHILOSOPHY: Lightweight, ergonomic, fully ambidextrous close quarter battle (CQB) carbine. COMPONENTS (from muzzle to stock): 1.5” Battlecomp (pinned) 14.5” Bravo Company Manufacturer upper receiver (A2 front sight and bird cage post removed) 13” Troy Industries Alpha rail Troy Industries front Folding Battle Sight, HK type Streamlight TLR-1s Magpul Rail Sling Attachment (RSA) Knights Armament Company SR-15 complete lower receiver Bravo Company Manufacturer MPI bolt carrier group EOTech EXPS2-2 Holosight (MPO III kit) EOTech G23 3x Magnifier (MPO III kit) Troy Industries rear Folding Battle Sight Armadynamics Ambidextrous Dual Functioning (ADF) charging handle Magpul MOE grip Lewis Machine & Tool Company SOPMOD stock *Loctite applied as necessary BACKGROUND: I have trigger time with the M16, M4, AK-47, and AKMS systems in that order. My first personal AR-15 was a Land Warfare Resources Corporation International (LWRCI) gas piston 16” M6-G. I have extensive experience with the M4, long periods of it in a hostile, non-permissive environment. As of this posting, my current “work gun” is fitted with the standard ACOG, PEQ-15, and Surefire XM8 weaponlight combination. DECISION: I have an affinity for CQB and set out to create my personal ultimate CQB carbine. I am a left-handed shooter with very specific desires. After a lot of research vetted by hard-earned experience, I determined that no preexisting rifle suited my needs and pieced together this superbly lethal weapon system. IMPRESSIONS: It shoots and runs like a dream! Battlecomp keeps it on target, Troy Alpha rail is lightweight (wear gloves!), the EOTech make target engagement all too easy, and the Magnifier let’s me comfortably reach out and touch targets. The TLR-1s is significantly cheaper than most Surefire weaponlights and boasts 160 lumens. I originally intended to add a Magpul Angled Foregrip to the raily system, but the Troy Alpha rail offers such great grip as it is. The ADF charging handle will not snag on my gear as if I hold it in the relaxed ready, but is designed in a way so that the latch pull is not stressed under hard use. It is worth noting that I will likely remove the Magnifier and save it for ranges/scenarios that involve engagement distances beyond 100 meters. |

And before anybody asks, some of them look a little funky because they were mostly built in CA and I haven't gotten around to fixing them yet. |
