Oh, how I want my first SBR to look just like that.  Working class schmucks like me just have to go with the Magpul set up. About 45 days left and at least I'll have an SBR, I'll trade ya.

New to the AR community and glad to be a part of this site. I've been browsing topics here for the past few weeks while adding new hardware to my new DPMS.

What great community.

There is still some space on your rail for a light, laser, and possibly a can opener.

Quite the tack driver.

Pardon my ignorance, what makes it "not pretty"

Just my opinion.....pistol grip FDE looks off compared to Magpul.....scope is ridiculously long (looks even heavier) for a mid length.  Your rifle feels and looks disjointed!

I appreciate the feedback. I always like to know the "Why" behind someone's thoughts.

a couple points.

I only keep the sunshade on for housing purposes (so I don't lose it). I normally take it off when going to the range. Additionally, I like having a high magnification scope for bench shooting where the need for re-acquiring a target quickly isn't a huge issue. I am aware that the scope looks retarded-big hanging off of the rifle. But for me it came down to function-over-fashion.

As for the magpul FDE not matching the Larue FDE. I knew that before ordering the grip (googled it). But, when it comes to function (and you REALLY need to try the APEG grip out, it is fabulous) I wanted that grip and that stock. The fact that it doesn't match exactly isn't a big thing to me. This again comes down to the function/fashion thing.

The gun has all the essentials down to a SWR specwar 762 flash hider and a geissele 2 stage trigger. it works, but I do understand that it may not be as "uniform" as other people's rifles. But, im okay with that.

Funny note... If you hate mismatched FDE then you will deff. hate my beater rifle....

What the hell,  here we go, 1st post:

The only AR that I currently possess, and its not even mine.  It's my work gun, an ancient Bushmaster HBAR with a fixed carry handle and A2 stock.  It currently wears a stubby FG mounted to a tiny section of rail I bolted to the handguard (because I didn't feel like spending 200 bucks for some enormous YH rail farm on an already front-heavy gun),  and an old Streamlight mounted in one of those plastic Elzetta mounts that bolts on over the bayonet lug and the FSB.   It's a blast to shoot from prone/kneeling, but its a pain in the ass to run shoot-n-move drills with due to it's front-heaviness.  Its primary job is to rattle around in the overhead rack of my work truck, with the barrel mounted above the passenger seat so I don't get hit with the heavy end if/when it falls out of the rack.  But it's an AR,  and I didn't have to pay for it, so I'll call it a win.

It's posed up next to my old WASR beater gun, my only other Gun That Makes Feinstein Cry.  I never thought I would compare it favorably to anything with regard to weight, balance and overall handiness.  Then I got the HBAR.  Go figure.    Not sure which I'd pick up first in a fight given a choice, but the've both proven to be solid, reliable guns in the couple of thousand rounds I've put through each.
