I've been an AR owner for 47 years now, it started when I was a late teen when I bought my first new AR-15 Colt Sporter SP1 rifle in '71. The above AR-15A2 rifle was the first lower half that I built in 2005, the upper half was a never issued USGI M-16A2 Colt that was plentiful back in 2005. The lower receiver was a like new post ban stripped Colt Match Target HBAR, then I bought all new Colt parts to complete the lower half, then I just pinned my upper everything went fine during assembly and a great first trip to the shooting range. https://i.imgur.com/Ljy433e.jpg This was my LMT that I bought separately the upper and lower half in 2005 because at that time LMT are not selling complete carbines, they sold them separate. I changed it to Magpul MOE furniture and sold it in 2016 to buy another carbine. https://i.imgur.com/Nafd2pB.jpg This Colt 6721 AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine (made in 2002) I bought in '05 was my second build, I got it separately upper half and lower half (because they were hard to get after the ban - too much demand) without the buffer tube, buffer, spring and no M4 buttstock. I removed the factory HBAR heavy contour barrel and sold it, bought a Rock Creek Barrel, midlength gas system, medium contour, CMV mil-spec steel, chrome lined, 1/7 twist, 5.56 NATO chamber, M4 feedramps, F marked FSB, upgraded the BCG with Colt M16 auto, Magpul MIAD grip, Vltor mil-spec buffer tube, H heavy carbine buffer, Vltor EMOD buttstock, Troy rear BUIS, Aimpoint M2 on LaRue cantilever QD lever mount, Surefire M961 weaponlight, and TangoDown VFG (later I changed it to LaRue FUG QD VFG). https://i.imgur.com/XbxPez6.jpg My 3rd build project was this RRA LAR-15 A4 CAR in 2006 which was about 7 years ahead when Colt released their flattop 6951 9mm carbine. The upper half was complete from the factory (because individual parts were not available that time), stripped lower, all RRA internal parts, Hahn Precision mag block, Daniel Defense EZ CAR 7.0 drop-in rails, BCM mil-spec buffer tube, Magpul SL grip, SL-K compact buttstock, MBUS rear sight, GG&G Tactical SFG-1 short VFG, Surefire G2 light on Viking Tactics light mount. https://i.imgur.com/i1OrBaI.jpg Colt 6721 AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine made and bought it new in 2010, it have small mil-spec fire control group pins, added KAC M4 RAS rails which fits on heavy contour barrel, Magpul MIAD grip, Vltor IMOD buttstock, and Troy rear BUIS. https://i.imgur.com/CINYshL.jpg Next year after that in early 2011 Colt came out with a new model SP6920 same as the LE6920 except marked "Sporter M4 Carbine", this is the current configuration with KAC M4 RAS rails, BCM ambi charging handle, LMT ambi selector, Norgon ambi mag catch, B5 Systems grip, B5 Systems Bravo SOPMOD buttstock and KAC 300m rear BUIS. https://i.imgur.com/7QOcSlp.jpg This LE6920 was the first marked "M4 Carbine" I got early 2012 and it had the factory Colt Defense-Rogers SuperStoc. I really didn't use it and I let my son use it but later on in 2014 I gave it to my oldest son on his 18th birthday. In this picture he borrowed my B5 Bravo buttstock, rear BUIS and old EOTech. https://i.imgur.com/ym1KWvi.jpg This was the last AR I bought in early 2016 and later that year I gave it to my 2nd son when he turned 18. We upgraded his lower with Magpul MOE K2 grip and STR buttstock, the upper he borrowed my upper half of my Sporter M4. Before 2005 up to back in 1971 I had 6 AR all Colt pre ban rifles and carbines, all of them ran great without any problems, when I worn out my AR I sold it and got a new model. Right now I'm not buying any complete AR, maybe an AR15A4 rifle later on after I finish my current 18" SPR upper half project. View Quote Had Friday off. Went to the indoor range with my CMMG .22lr upper with Silencerco Sparrow underneath the handguard. Fun as hell to shoot. |
