So what's the deal with running a VFG and the AFG at the same time?

to be perfectly honest... under adrenaline (during competition/home invasion) i have a habit of gripping the magwell... i never wear gloves and i dont like losing chunks of skin from that little gap under the pivot pin. plus it positions my hand perfectly the way i like it thumb forward...
but when i take more precise shots (standing or kneeling) i like to grip a little more forward and the AFG feels alot better to me than just a covered rail or the Troy modular grip it came with.
since its a competition/home defense rifle may as well keep them both on instead of always switching between the two.

as everyone i meet says... "i'm different"

Before anyone asks "Why the hell did you do that?", I'll answer it. Simply, I've never seen another one like it. When talking with Jessie and Eric down at JD Machine, they told me about an idea, and I couldn't help myself, so I bit and did it.

What you're looking at below, is a standard JD Machine "multi cal" upper and lower in 5.56. both were cut and pulled from the batch prior to powdercoating, and were sent out for polish. They were hand-polished by a guy who builds custom rims for cars and trucks, and honestly, it came out better than i expected!

Parts List:

JD Machine 5.56 Upper w/ USMC logo on magwell
JD Machine 5.56 Lower
20" Bushmaster Stainless Steel barrel
20" YHM full-length Quad Rail
Sniper Grip
Harris Bipod & mount
Hawke-Frontier 8-32x50 (HK3372) scope
A.R.M.S. #19 Throw mount
DPMS lower parts kit
BCM Gunfighter charging handle
Magpul PRS AR10 (.308 for the extra 1" cheek relief)
Magpul trigger guard
Magpul RVG
Magpul B.A.D. Lever
Bullet Button for compliancy w/ the Republik of Kalifornia

Looks pretty cool for a bench gun. But, how are you going to keep that aluminum from oxidizing? without a finish you'll have to polish it all the time...

Is that paracord on the tube of the rifle on the right?  How did you get it to stay in place?

I took my AR out hunting in 20 degree weather and like an idiot I forgot my gloves.  Had to wrap my bandana around my tube to keep my hands from freezing...
