Once you start running SLIP all the other lubes will go into the trash (or use them for general cleaning)

I have used them... it did indeed increase trigger pull ( enough so...  that I removed them.... not just pull weight but "feel" as well.) .... otherwise they do work as advertised. Although it made trigger installation more complicated... dental picks helped that problem.

I've had this happen once as well and a buddy had a popped primer get lodged into his gas key. That one was definitely a tough one to figure out when his rifle was basically a single shot rifle.

I sheared the roll pin on my PRI gasbuster charging handle this past weekend at a class.  It was probably a 5 year old CH with 10-12,000 rounds on it.  Sheared the roll pin into 3 pieces.

I believe there was a very long thread on lubricants on TOS with a lot of people chiming in, and it was amazing how unanimous the praise for Slip EWL was.  Everything else I saw mentioned had people chiming in about one thing or another they had issues with-- gumming up on its own or when mixed with other lubes, slowing the gun in cold weather, corrosion, notably higher wear, evaporation... I can't recall anyone having a bad thing to say about the EWL, and many people had tried several other products and either come back to or ended up with it.

I saw a popped primer wind up inside the carrier by making it's way through the cam pin slot.  Locked that rifle up solid.  I don't know the ammo for a certainty but if I recall correctly it was Lake City M193 with crimped primers.  True 5.56 ammo is pretty high pressure stuff.

I had the same thing happen on my sr25 a few weeks ago. Freedom munitions 168 gr Amax, they took care of me, and are qcing the lot to find out what happened. I had a real expensive paperweight.

I went back and re read some of that thread... and the two things that I can add to this thread...

The T-1 I bought in June of 08 is still on it's second battery... and still holds zero and shoots better then me....

The Giselle SSA trigger that Big Bore gave me in 08 (Had SSA written in electronic pencil engraving) is still going strong.

Both will hit the 10 year mark in June of 2018.

So yeah.. I can say those two pieces of gear work very well.

A primer crimp will not hold a primer in place on a hot load. The crimp is there to overcome the hammer effect created by shooting full auto.

Your are far more likely to loose a primer shooting 5.56mm military ammo with crimped primers on a hot day in a hot rifle than an uncrimped .223.

High pressure events blow primers and no crimp on earth will stop it. If someone is shooting reloads on their fifth plus life cycle, then that case was worn out and should have been discarded when the primer seated without resistance.

I've had that happen on a friend's SR-25 as well. IIRC, it was PPU.

Was this the original gen roll pin or the later solid pin?
