I just got my spikes in and was thinking about doing that very same thing. I want to do a FF at some point, but it cost is a little prohibitive right now. |

C7 receivers have brass deflectors. Yours is a 603 A1 type. I like both, but I tend to like A1's a little better. |

Thanks for the info –– i guess i may have been confused about the upper because its obviously coal black (which matches modern A2 era lowers in color) –– I originally wanted to base a XM177 carbine type retro build on it, but all the mind numbing detail it takes to build a correct CAR from scratch just made me say "screw it, at least i have my 604 ! " |

Masternave - How do you like that omega x rail. I ordered on the other day from Midway but when I opened it DD forgot to put the barrel nut in the box along with all the other hardware so I am waiting on getting the parts from them. Is the rail pretty solid?

" You're welcome. It's possible that it was arsenal refinished, which is common for old M16 upper receivers, so that would explain the black color. I like what you've done with it. I see a lot of tactical type carbines with C7 receivers, but it's not common to see these old M16 receivers outside of retro rifles. |
