Dear Brownells PR Representative,
This thread has over 22,000 views, and 300+ posts of people pissed. While not so great for you, this has been a great opportunity for DSG and Midway (even with stupid mag limits) - many of us wish we would have given our money to them. We'd have our mags. How about some answers? And shipped mags? Yours truly, - First-Time (and Possibly-Last-Time) Customer |

with all the sytem mistakes i decided to call today and make sure they still had my order in the system. its still there thankfully, i ordered on 12/22. they told me it would be mid february before i got it shipped. 2 10pk 30rd windowless Pmag.

Wow I'm glad I cancelled my order with Brownells and ordered some Elander mags.
BTW, my DSG Pmags I ordered on the 21st came in last week |
|
I have backorder:
Order Number: 08240XXX Ordered: 12/20/2012 10 pack Black non-windowed PMAGS Order went to pending the last few days, just checked and now it is back to backorder status. Pretty frustrating when they aren't interested in shipping out by order date. |
|
My 20 round black gen 1 mags just got cancelled. I was a believer, but I'm beginning to be a doubter. I still hold out hope to receive other orders, but with three orders from December with no shipping yet, I wish I would have put more "eggs" in another basket. I won't be ordering more from brownells until I receive orders already placed. I've gotten shipment notification for several orders from other companies AFTER orders I placed with brownells. 2 of those were pmag orders.
I understand 20 round mags are being replaced, but brownells could have easily replaced my order with gen3 versions. Both mags are similarly priced and 20 rounders were not "package deals". Instead, they just canceled, and WITHOUT notice. It's just smacks of something from an amateur website instead of a proven industry leader. |

I found out the exact same thing happened to me.... and I told them I thought they damned well could have very easily changed my order to reflect the new sku... They said they will notify me when they come in.... I have ordered them from DSG now... and I hope they come in first so I can cancel my order with Brownells |
|
I believe at a much earlier point Brownell's should have shut down Pmag orders. They hit critical mass - in this case defined as some quantity total that exceeds flow volume +90 or +120 days - and just kept taking orders. Now a whole mess of people are just bailing on them and their reputation is taking a serious hit.
I did find out from my source that colored Pmags will not be made for the foreseeable future. |
|
I gave them a break after we all saw the crazy buying that has gone on but when I saw they didnt do a thing to improve their customer service and shipping out of order a month later I called and put an end to the suffering. I am not pissed but I will look elsewhere first next time. things should have gotten better after a month not worse.

Actually, I think Brownells may have reversed course and decided to change orders in their systems to the 20 RD G3's?? Hope at least! My 20 RD's appeared to have been canceled a few weeks ago - with a message in my order for 20 RD PMAGS was canceled and that I would need to re-order with the new SKU.... Now I dont see that under my order, instead next to the old SKU it says "SEE STOCK NUMBER 100-011-413" - which is the G3's..... My guess is that they were taking a ton of flack for just canceling orders when many of the other businesses are automatically moving customers over to the G3's..... |

I had the exact same messages and order tracking showed both canceled and then looked like they automatically switched to the new sku.... so I called. As near as the person on the phone, looking at her computer, could tell, the 20 rd mags had been cancelled and had not been switched to the new sku. So while what we see when we check order status may look like it got switched to the new sku.... at their end it does not. And unless you call them and ask them to add a "notify" to your account you will not be automatically notified when they come in. I am frustrated too. I think they should have automatically made the switch. But I have had great service from Brownells in the past. I am not going to slam them or leave them over this. The current level of buying of anything AR related is probably unprecedented in not only the gun industry but probably in retail history. Have some other companies handled it better? It seems so. But I'm not going to fault Brownells for not swimming as fast as some one else when the tsunami hit. I have found some other suppliers that I had not tried before... have placed orders... waiting to see if they do better. If so, I have gained some new options. But I will also continue to do business with Brownells... no matter how messed up they have been on mag orders. They have been great in the past... and I expect they will be great in the future. This is a crazy time and I'm willing to cut everyone some slack. |

Just received the 10 pack of D&H mags with Magpul followers that I ordered from Bravo Company on Wednesday. Times are crazy but some places manage to keep their shit together like a champ.

All - I understand your frustration however Brownell's sold 3 and a half years worth magazines in 72 hours. That kind of demand cannot possibly be planned for and creates a logistical nightmare. Please think of your own job - could you do three and a half years of work in 3 days?
I have dealt with Brownell's many times prior to this with great satisfaction, currently the entire industry is under more pressure than it ever has been. Now is far from the time to turn our backs on retailers who have dealt fairly with us for years and have made thousands of hard to find parts available for us. When all of this madness happened Brownell's did not stop shipping to NY, they did not raise their prices to take advantage of panic buying, and they allowed customers to continue to order and Backorder products. I personally will continue to do business with this organization for as long as the State of NY will allow me to....I hope you choose the same. Link to Article Disclaimer - I am in no way affiliated with Brownell's. I am just a loyal customer expressing his opinion. |

I understand what they're going through as well as the whole industry. Most companies are swamped with orders and while some companies may be dealing with this a bit better, most of the companies are having a hard time responding to everyone. Everyone and their mother is calling 47 times to figure out where their order is. All you can do is wait, bitching won't get you anywhere and they're doing their best to pump out orders. |

Here's the thing, it's not the wait that is pissing people off. It's watching people who ordered weeks after us get their orders while we just keep getting told that there is no ETA on our magazines. All we want is to receive our mags in the order thay were placed, just as we were PROMISED. If a Brownell's PR person would simply post what the problem is and let us know what's going on it would make us all feel a little better. Ignoring us and giving everyone the runaround does just the opposite.

That PR Rep is busy packaging your order. 3 years of sales in 3 days. All hands on deck.

I don't mind waiting at all, but when you see people who ordered WEEKS after you did getting their order filled while you get nothing...that's screwed up. I'm not as concerned about my mag orders as I am some other things I have back ordered like ammo and parts. I've had some of this stuff on back order since before the panic started, and honestly, it's ridiculous that Brownell's is filling orders in some sequence that results in people who ordered weeks or months later getting their order filled first. |

In case it hasn't become completely obvious to everyone, everything between Dec 19 and Dec 24th, or so, has become a complete black hole. After that, things are shipping. Before that, everything has shipped. During that time, shipping is spotty.
If Brownells cared even a little bit, they would make good on those orders first. Frankly, I don't believe a thing that they have said. I think that their system screwed up royally, and that they haven't the faintest idea what the hell went wrong or how to fix it. If they did, they would have fixed it. So they are shipping stuff after that date. If I were a betting person, I'd bet that most every magazine order between Dec 19 and Dec 24 that hasn't shipped gets canceled... because they can't figure out what is what. |

I ordered the 19th around noon and I havent seen anything. I did call twice since then and they assure me Im still in line and nothing has been cancelled. They have assured me that my order is still in the system. Some reason I dont believe it. Sure when I call they can pull up my order number and see that its there but I highly doubt that its in the computers at the shipping warehouse in a 'pending orders' folder or computer. Im thinking all the orders between the 19th and the 24th somehow got deleted or forgotten about at the end of the chain. Brownells need to get someone to look at all these orders and figure it out because its obvious they have no idea whats happened between the 19th and 24th. I have plenty of patience and know that everyone is swamped but its one thing to be swamped and another to not know how to handle the huge influx in orders. The only thing Im pissed about is that they are completely lost and wont update their customers about their mess up. |

If you want to split hairs though it was confirmed 12/18 and I had other items that were shipped 12/19 so I guess you could consider my pmag order thrown back to the fishes on 12/19. |

The only thing Im pissed about is that they are completely lost and wont update their customers about their mess up. I believe you are 100% correct. I posted the exact same thing on another thread. I believe this because way back on 12/27 I called because my order showed a shipped date but also said" no items shipped" I was confused so I called to ask about it. The woman told me they just marked all the orders that way to move them out of the system because there were so many it was clogging the system. At the time she assured me it was still there and as soon as they started receiving mags it would be filled. All my orders have a xxxxx.00 and an xxxxx.01. The xxxxx.01 say "order processed-no items shipped" Now jump over to midway. I had two mag orders. They both said "backordered" until they cancelled one of my orders due to limits. Now that cancelled order says "order processed" It definitely appears they lost the orders and can't find them. But I have called in January to cancel one order and I asked again about my mag order. Again I was assured it was there. If they indeed lost some orders then when I called why didn't the rep see that my order was in that time frame and put it back in play?? Instead it was left where it was and I was given the same bullshit spiel. Maybe someone who knows about order tracking software can shed some light. P.S.if u really want to get pissed check out the dsg order tracking chart then compare it to the brownells chart. As a previous poster said" yea they sold 3 1/2 years worth of mags in 72 hrs but they have only shipped 87" I thought that was pretty funny. |

I have contacted the company via e-mail (can't get through on the phone.) We will see how this is handled. ETA: Talked to a rep. They will send the two if available, or will backorder them. Handling it the best they can. |

Well shit, ain't that nice. They've started shorting us on our orders once they finally ship them.

I just talked to them for a fourth or fifth time. They told me that there was a glitch in the system and that they believe it has been corrected. I pointed out that it hasn't been corrected per the report of magazines ordered on 12/25 being shipped on 1/28/13 given that my order of 12/20 still hasn't shipped. She said that she would notify management. Obviously not putting much faith in her statement.
I was also told that the .01 on the end of the order number is their backorder designation. |
