No one ask for a damn opinion. He tried, something went wrong, life goes on. Don't be a dick about it.
I appreciate his info; possibly kept me from making a costly mistake. I'm anxious to see what Colt has to say, because that shouldn't be that high stress point. |

Okay I just tightened the screw, but not sure on the staking part. Will it be okay if I dont stake it? I dont want to send it in to Colt if I am going to be without it for a while but I will if this is a something that needs to be taken care. Thanks

Somebody has to figure them out. A significant number of people have no use for a rifle that doesn't run suppressed. It seems more likely to have been the Syrac gas block that contributed to the problem. Most likely it did, insofar as it didn't help his already existing over-gassed issue. The gas port diameter (and hence the maximum amount of gas available) is set at the drilled orifice of the barrel itself. All a gas block can do is transport that much gas (or less if adjusted) to the gas tube. The suppressor causes the back pressure, and that particular block couldn't reduce it enough, but it certainly didn't "cause" it in and of itself. It merely failed to reduce it enough. Kind of like brakes on a car. They don't make you go 100 in a 55, but their inability to slow you down enough before the curve does arguably contribute to the crash. What I want to know, is how his bolt carrier was able to strike his rear takedown lug (if that indeed was what caused the fracture). Colt could certainly bow out on fixing this, but hopefully they'll be better than that and hook him up with a new upper anyway. If I were Colt, I would want to get my hands on that upper and bolt carrier. People are going to suppress these rifles. Time for learning, schooling, and tweaking (if necessary). |

I believe the Colt rep told me they are on the 3rd or 4th round of the carriers. I know mine was one of the first and it was NOT staked at all. Key ended up breaking and I ruined two charging handles before I realized what had happened.
I know where there are extra 901 parts, including the magwell adaptor. PM me if you'd like details. |

Anybody else hear about Colt stopping production on the 901 to redesign/rework the upper receiver?

I had one on order but ended up cancelling it 2 days ago and picked up a SCAR 17S.. |

no idea.. poster in another thread say a customer service agent from Colt told him that, but I'm starting not to believe it because I have not heard anything about it.

Has anyone mounted a MAGPUL PRS or UBR stock to his LE901-16S? Can someone please guide me on how to do this?

Thanks, John View Quote For UBR on an AR-10, you need an entry length tube, Heavy Buffers (Slash) CAR 10 buffer, and I think you use your existing spring. The UBR fits and works perfectly on an AR-10. Slash would probably be happy to walk you through it. |

You would need the UBR and the entry length tube(I think it comes with most UBRs) View Quote From Magpul's website: Features: Mounts on durable Entry-Length Receiver Extension tube (included) to accommodate the common M4 carbine buffer and spring. NOTE: The UBR includes the necessary Entry-Length Receiver Extension tube and all mounting hardware. An M4 carbine buffer and spring are required for use with the UBR and are not included. 7.62x51 ARs may require the use of a custom short buffer and spring. |

Ok, so one would just need to buy the UBR, and they would reuse the 901 spring and buffer.

Has anyone actually replaced the Vltor stock with a UBR or PRS? I like the Vltor, but think one of the Magpul stocks would balance the rifle better.

so has anyone noticed how the charging handle on the 901? It looks like it has a shelf, im guessing you can't use a PRI gas buster with it? Does anyone have one they would be willing to see how it fits or works. Don't wanna buy one if they won't...

The gas buster is the wrong length for the 901.
